Our Opportunity: Rainbow Greenhouses Inc. supplies indoor tropical plants and outdoor annuals to retailers in Western Canada and North Western US. Job Summary: Area Supervisors will hold a year-round, full time contract that averages 30-44 hours/week. The peak of our business runs April through September, and during this time days will likely exceed an 8.5 hour work day. For the months of May, June, and July, Area Supervisors will have an expectation of working Monday through Saturday. The remainder of the year they will have weekends and holidays off.
As an Area Supervisor you report to Regional Supervisors and Directors.. You possess the ability to take initiative and think on your feet and out of the box. You utilize your strong leadership qualities to develop highly productive Rainbow merchandising teams through coaching and implementing our standard of merchandising in our retail locations.
You and your team will be working indoor and outdoors, rain or shine. You are someone who has a high energy level with the ability to work on your feet for long periods of time, working with your teams in field using repetitive movements, pushing, pulling and reaching.
Day in a Life of Regional Super Rep: Your day will usually begin around 6:00AM/7:00AM. As you are having that morning coffee - you are looking over your emails to map out your day. You will review the Rainbow Weekly to identify the shipping log and what’s coming in this week and plan your day on the needs of each store. Travel time is paid from home and back, so be sure once you have your keys to clock in!
Arriving at your first store, you see that it's in a bit of a disarray, typical for a Monday after some weekend shopping rushes. You roll up your sleeves and prepare to get to work! You pull product that isn't fit to be on the shelves anymore and identify what may be reduced and what may need to return to the earth. Everything gets reported in our company app with pictures. After that, you ensure that all the spaces you've left behind are filled up nice and tidy again with proper signage, and you are ready for clean up!
Alternatively, you may also coordinate time to work alongside your merchandiser. You greet your merchandiser, ensure that they've clocked in, walk through the work that needs to be done and create an action plan because it really takes a village! Happy with your work, you grab a couple more photos to upload into our company app, you grab your keys and get back into your car and it's off to your next destination to do it all over again. And yes, you're still clocked in while you're driving!
While the basis of your duties is typically the same, your day is always different. Sometimes you get to line up your days and work with your merchandisers, and you know that support is always just a phone call away if you need it. You spend your day with plants and plant people (who are generally happy!), you get to coach a team of your own, and you get to be part of an awesome crew who always strive to be there to support you when you have questions. Responsibilities include but not limited to:

• Merchandising Rainbow product at various retail locations, travelling to retail sites in the North Vancouver Island area.
• Confident with a positive attitude; set the tone for your team
• Understanding written merchandising standards and instructions, and can implement them in field
• Communicating new information, policies, and goals to team members
• Managing multiple merchandisers in different locations
• Training/coaching other employees on written standards, instructions on the job site or by other communications
• Building and maintaining store relationships
• Long days in spring and summer- working on your feet for the duration of the shift
• Succeeding in merchandising while working with merchandisers, store employees or individually
• Develop and maintain an effective activity schedule and compliance to time frames
• Ready to reset/correct stores with merchandising challenges
• Covering service days (sick calls/time away for merchandisers)

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• Strong attention to detail
• Tech savvy- good understanding of mobile apps, excel, digital training information, trouble shooting
• Strong understanding of what merchandising is and the impact it makes
• Experience with large retailers
• Fast paced work style, ability to multitask
• Strong leadership skills, ability to assess challenging situations to achieve the best outcome
• Good communication skills with other team members, store staff, and company contacts
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs and be active and on your feet for long periods of time
• Valid drivers license and reliable vehicle
• Steel toes required
• Smart phone required, regular usage (email/phone/photos, etc.)

Salary will be commensurate with experience. Role includes mileage, paid travel time from home and back, medical and dental benefits, performance bonuses, cell phone allowance, and regular performance reviews and wage increases as you grow and develop into this role.
