Location: 560 Victoria Street North, Kitchener
Wage: $30.51/hour
Shift: Day shift (flexibility with working overtime, and on weekends, as necessary)

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the focus of this role is to repair and maintain all equipment used in the plan. This is primarily achieved through daily support of all processes completing Emergency, Corrective, Preventive and Predictive Maintenance (PM) tasks. The Millwright Apprentice is a member of the maintenance team and as such, participates in team efforts to achieve assigned department goals; works closely with other team members to ensure all maintenance activities are completed on time, according to SOPs and regulatory requirements; and provides support to other roles within the maintenance team.
Responsibilities:
Plant Maintenance
- Verifies that machine guarding is in place, interlocks are in working condition at all times and applies proper LOTO (lockout tagout) procedures to equipment during repair
- Identifies and reports unsafe conditions / near misses and accidents in a timely manner
- Completes Preventative,Predictive amd Corrective Maintenance routines according to the Master PM schedule
- Works closely with production identifying and correcting all Mechanical, Electrical, Pneumatic and Hydraulic problems ensuring equipment is functioning properly, operatoring safely and running efficienctly
- Contacts equipment suppliers as required to gain information on equipment operation, maintenance or parts required
- Applies a methodical approach to problem solving/diagnosing of mechanical/electrical issues
- Identifies and coordinates improvements to address down time or efficiency issues
- Develops written recommendations for Preventative and Predictive Maintenance routines
General
- Understands and adheres to company policies, GMP’s (good manufacturing practices), SOP’s (standard operating procedures)
- Exhibits a mature and cooperative attitude to promote good communication and teamwork both within the department and with other departments
- Adheres to parts inventory and PM policy and procedures
- Demonstrates initiative to assist others readily and frequently
Qualifications:
- Strong Mechanical Aptitude
- Problem solving skills and good communication skills are required
- Strong people skills - approachable, a good listener and empathetic
- Previously worked in a manufacturing environment (even better if it was food manufacturing!)
- Dedicated to the health and safety of yourself and your colleagues
- Digest constructive feedback as an opportunity to listen and improve your skills and performance
- Must be comfortable lifting up to 50lbs as needed
- A lover of bread and baked goods!
