4Bidding Inc offers Downsizing, Organization, Move Management, and Online Auction Services to assist people and businesses who are reorganizing or relocating.
We currently have one (1) opening for a part time position. Contractors preferred.
We are a rapidly growing organization and as we grow, we will offer internal opportunities for role development, specialization and expansion. Our team is our greatest strength, and we work to continually support and improve communication, tools and processes.
Hours of Work: average of 24 hours per week, hours per day will vary. Additional hours may be available.
Core hours when working at the main warehouse are 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. from Monday to Friday, flexing to accommodate up to two shifts per month on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Hours will be scheduled depending on job duties and work location, with Monday to Friday shifts starting as early as 7:30 A.M. or finishing as late as 6:30 p.m.
Location: Main work site is Birch Avenue, Kitchener. Work will be scheduled up to an hour’s drive away.
Vehicle: A valid Ontario’s Driver’s license and consistent access to a reliable vehicle is mandatory for this position.
Job Summary: To assist with all aspects of downsizing including packing, rearranging, removing and/or selling of furniture or goods and marketing of our services. This job offers something different everyday. It is physically demanding job, most of the shift is spent standing, carrying or moving. The specific duties and responsibilities will vary by customer, by downsizing needs, by auction and by work site, but may include the following:
Primary Responsibilities
  • Pack, rearrange or remove furniture, clothing, decor, art, boxes and other items as needed from homes, businesses, sheds, garages, yards and attics; items may be awkward or heavy and/or located in awkward or difficult to access locations.
  • Perform auction set up and pickup day duties such as reading and gathering items on invoices, customer service, auction representation and post-sale reporting.
  • Assist with creating online auction catalogues by organizing, photographing and creating written descriptions; monitor unsold or uncatalogued inventory
  • Educate customers on our various systems and services, including use of our third party auction host site.
  • Ensure superior customer experience to promote customer satisfaction and build customer retention and referrals.
  • Other duties as required.
Educational/Experience Requirements
  • Completed a 2 or 3 Year University or College Degree or Diploma related to Geriatrics, Diversity and Inclusion, Social, Developmental or Human Services, English, Business or Communications.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Canadian and regional customer trends and markets for new, used, vintage and antique goods including electronics, art, household goods, collectibles and/or tools.
  • Verbal, written communication and listening skills to work effectively with customers who may be experiencing hearing impairments, cognitive changes or emotional reactions to the downsizing process and to create content for auction catalogues
  • Familiarity with body mechanics combined with the ability to lift and carry heavy items safely in uncontrolled environments such as customer’s houses.
  • Intermediate computer skills with knowledge in both Google and Microsoft Suites, including Word/Docs, Excel/Sheets and Outlook/Gmail.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Multi-tasking skills along with the ability to adapt to changing work environments and expectations.
  • Must be willing and able to conform with all current Public Health mandates, customer requests and congregate living site protocols, including wearing a medical mask.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn, retain and articulate product related information and provide unscripted responses on appropriate subject matter.
  • You must have access to a vehicle and a full G class license. We have a warehouse base in Kitchener, but you will also be required to report to work sites up to 1 hour away, using your own vehicle. Many locations will be inaccessible by public transit.
  • Must be comfortable working in a variety of conditions, including outdoor sheds, garages, attics and basements. Cleanliness levels will vary. We do not work in biohazardous or other imminently dangerous situations; we do work with people who collect a very large quantity of personal treasures, who may have pets, or have formed beliefs over decades that are not consistent with current values and may require diplomacy and tact when interacting with them.
