JOB DESCRIPTION:
We are currently accepting resumes for an experienced Operations Manager for our Dawson Creek, BC operations.
Start Date: As Soon As Possible
Duties & Responsibilities
- Daily Planning of Resources

- Coordinate equipment to meet requirements for daily operations
- Work with Terminal Manager to create work schedules for employees
- Aware of employee holiday schedules
- Using the computer to create schedules and effectively communicating these schedules to all employees
- Ensure employees are working in conjunction with federal or provincial driving requirements
- Communicating with other terminals to ensure they have the human resource and equipment required to complete their operations
- Be able to work creatively with resources, in the chance of either a personnel or an equipment shortage
- Booking maintenance appointments with local suppliers
- Communicating with maintenance department/shop regarding equipment maintenance concerns
- Dispatching

- Maintain a high level of On-time Service
- Sustain constant communication with drivers all day (through the use of the telephone, radio, or satellite system)
- Be aware of all the employee activities in the region
- Develop delivery routes in conjunction with warehouse foreman (on a daily basis, depending on the freight requirements of the day)
- Reviewing all pickup and delivery paperwork (BOL – Bill of Lading and POD – proof of delivery) for accuracy
- Coordinate and keep track of all freight pickups
- Generate trailer manifest and additional required paperwork for long-haul loads
- Resolve work conflicts and recommend measures to improve performance
- Train staff on policies and procedures when necessary
- Customer Service

- Distribute and pass on calls when required
- Process invoice payment when necessary
- Resolve customer conflicts and recommend measures to improve performance.
- Be able to deal with any customer inquiries, regardless of their attitude
- Ensure operations recognize the expectations of our major clients
- Track shipments using the computer software
- Make billing adjustments as requested customers
- Working with customer to find adequate pickup and delivery times
- Assist other office staff with their workload when available, in order to improve overall customer service
- Data Entry

- Review all bills of lading (BOL) to ensure that the drivers are fill them out properly before they go to the bill entry department
- Competent in computer software in order to assist in bill entry or to audit invoices
Qualifications
- Education

- Minimum requirement:
-
- High School Diploma
- Some University Education preferred, but not required
- Skills and abilities
-
- Proficient reading, writing, and speaking English
- Able to deal with people in a variety of situations and mediate when necessary (ie. conflict resolution or motivation)
- Competent in all Federal and Provincial driver regulations
- Being able to multi-task many activities, with the ability to prioritize
- Able to make decisions and problem solve short-term situations
- Strong computer and technology skills
- Good managerial skills
- Basic numeracy and math skills
- Proper telephone etiquette is required
