Our multidisciplinary team of material science & engineering experts in polymer chemistry, biomedical engineering, and biotechnology have developed extensive experience in providing accurate, reproducible, and validated analytical services to various sectors. We provide expert analytical and regulatory approval support through contract analysis, method development, and validation services to petrochemicals, polymer/plastics, pharmaceutical companies, and research institutions.
Job Summary: Poly Analytik is looking for a potential candidate to join the team as a Product Manager - Purification. The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing and leading a new Purification Services Department. This role involves managing the development and delivery of purification services to external clients, with a strong emphasis on chromatography, while incorporating other purification techniques. The ideal candidate will combine deep technical expertise with strong business acumen to build and manage a client-focused service department. This position is offered Full-Time and will be located in London, Ontario.
Key Responsibilities:
- Department Establishment: Lead the creation of a Purification Services Department, defining its structure, service offerings, operational frameworks, and client engagement strategies, with a strong focus on chromatography techniques.
- Service Development & Management: Design and develop a portfolio of purification services tailored to client needs, including chromatography-based methods and other relevant purification techniques such as filtration, crystallization, and distillation.
- Client Engagement & Business Development: Engage with potential clients to understand their purification needs and offer tailored solutions. Develop and execute business development strategies to grow the department’s client base and service portfolio.
- Technical Leadership: Provide hands-on leadership in the technical aspects of service delivery, ensuring that the purification processes meet the highest standards of quality and efficiency. Lead the development and optimization of chromatographic methods and other purification techniques.
- Market Research & Feasibility Studies: Conduct market research to identify industry trends, client needs, and potential service opportunities. Perform feasibility studies to assess the viability of new service offerings and technologies.
- Equipment Selection & Setup: Oversee the selection, procurement, and installation of chromatography and other purification equipment necessary for service delivery. Establish and maintain workflows, SOPs, and best practices within the department.
- Team Building & Management: Recruit, train, and lead a team of scientists and specialists. Foster a client-focused, innovative, and high-performance culture within the department.
- Quality Assurance & Compliance: Develop and implement quality control protocols to ensure all purification services meet regulatory standards and client expectations. Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and industry regulations.
- Service Delivery Optimization: Continuously monitor and optimize service delivery processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance client satisfaction. Implement continuous improvement initiatives to stay ahead of industry trends and client demands.
- Budget & Resource Management: Manage the department’s budget, ensuring efficient use of resources while achieving financial and strategic objectives. Monitor financial performance and make adjustments as needed.
- Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, acting as the primary point of contact for technical queries and service-related discussions. Ensure client satisfaction and address any service issues promptly.
- Education: Master’s or Ph D degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field. An MBA or equivalent business qualification is a plus.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in product management and technical leadership within the purification industry, preferably with a focus in chromatography.
- Proven experience in setting up and managing a department or similar function within a service-based business.
- Strong track record of client engagement and service delivery management.
- Technical Skills:
- Expertise in chromatography techniques (HPLC, GC, ion exchange, affinity chromatography) and familiarity with other purification methods like filtration, crystallization, and distillation.
- Proficiency in process development, optimization, and equipment selection.
- Strong understanding of analytical methods, quality control, and regulatory compliance.
- Business Skills:
- Strong ability to conduct market research, perform feasibility studies, and develop business strategies.
- Excellent understanding of market dynamics, client needs, and competitive landscape in the purification services industry.
- Experience in budgeting, resource management, and strategic planning.
- Leadership and Soft Skills:
- Ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams, driving collaboration and alignment across departments.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver on time.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into client value.
- Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach to problem-solving.

- Combination of office, laboratory, and client site visits.
