Job Title: Senior Application Developer
Location: Remote from Canada (On-site meetings in Edmonton, Alberta as required)
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 08:15 – 16:30 Alberta time

About the Role:
Our company is seeking a dynamic Senior Application Developer to join our team. As a key member of our technology and innovation unit, you will be responsible for programming, development, and providing AMS support for various projects aimed at improving executive and public communications. You will collaborate with a range of stakeholders to solve complex business problems through cutting-edge technology solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in technical analysis and design architecture for business solutions.
- Develop application code using .NET C# and Oracle PL/SQL.
- Design and implement secure SQL databases and develop both desktop and web-based interfaces.
- Conduct comprehensive analysis of business and user requirements to produce technical documentation.
- Perform corrective and preventative maintenance, along with adaptive upgrades to enhance existing applications.
- Perform unit testing as a part of quality assurance, participate in release planning, and ensure smooth transition to operations teams.
- Escalate issues proactively, communicate project status to management, and maintain compliance with coding standards.
- Provide cross-training and guidance to management and project members.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- Education:
- University degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or related discipline with 4 years of relevant experience; OR
- 2-year diploma in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or related discipline with 6 years of relevant experience; OR
- 1-year certificate in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or related discipline with 7 years of relevant experience; OR
- Current active professional certification in a relevant discipline with 7 years of related experience.
- Experience:
- 5 years in SQL Server development, indexing, and creating entity model diagrams.
- 5 years in Microsoft Windows Communication Foundation application development.
- Experience with Cold Fusion and VBA/VB6 Office Automation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 or higher, .NET, .NET Core, and Visual Basic.
- Strong knowledge of software development processes, methods, standards, tools, and policies.
- Experience working as a senior application developer on large COTS/Custom software applications with similar complexity.
- Experience with GIT repositories, continuous delivery, integration, and unit testing.
- Familiar with Java Script libraries like JQuery, Datatables, Suite Alert, and Bootstrap.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with Continuous Integration (CI).
- Familiar with Agile backlog management tools such as JIRA or Azure Dev Ops.
- Experience with disaster recovery testing, Microsoft Entity Framework, and Dev Express ASP.NET controls.
- Integration experience with LDAP/Active Directory and knowledge of working with Go A EC/CPE applications.
Background Check:
A standard background check, including a criminal record check, is required prior to appointment.
Training:
Completion of mandatory training, such as Freedom of Information and Privacy Act training and security awareness training, will be required upon hiring.
