Senior Internal Auditor

The Senior Internal Auditor is integral to the success of the Finance team, and to CAAT’s guiding mission and growth strategy.
The Senior Internal Auditor will be an advocate and specialist in internal control practices and risk identification and mitigation. They will represent the internal audit department as the “key contact” for many of the projects that they will be involved in.
We are looking for someone with:
- Post-Secondary Education in a finance/business related program
- Completion (or near completion) of professional accounting designation program (CPA) preferred
- Other recognized Internal Audit or Risk Mitigation designations are an asset (i.e. CIA, CFE, CRM, etc.)
- 3+ years of internal audit experience (financial services experience is preferred)
- Comfort with Microsoft Office applications, particularly MS Excel
- Natural curiosity and a desire to expand knowledge in the pension fund sector
- An ability to “see the big picture” and an understanding of interdependencies
- A strong ability to build trust with your audit clients in order to influence commitment to internal control structure and importance
- A collaborative approach and the confidence to bring new ideas forward
- Having a continuous improvement mindset, the ability to solve problems, and a strong desire to learn
- Plan and develop internal audit plans; many of which will be “first time” audits
- Provide internal control consulting to key strategic projects
- Lead meetings, build your network and be the “face” of Internal Audit and a champion on internal controls
- Identify and quantify financial and operational risk
- Ensure sufficient and appropriate documentation of work plans, testing results and conclusions
- Work with the business to find and develop tangible, practical solutions to internal control issues
- Enhance departmental analytics and contributing to the advancement of department methodology
