Senior Research Assistant, Museum Queeries

Senior Research Assistants work under the general supervision or direction of more senior researchers or faculty members, and are expected to exercise judgment in prioritizing, planning and organizing their own work within defined parameters.
Position Overview:
The Senior Research Assistant will perform academic research related to the Museum Queeries project. Museum Queeries is an interdisciplinary research cluster with collaborators from across Turtle Island that prioritizes Two-Spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, transsexual, and queer (2S+LGBTTQ) contributions and interventions into museums and museum studies.
Duties:
- Assist in the execution and evaluation of research, including literature reviews, exhibition reviews, focus groups, data integration and analysis.
- Participate in and co-facilitate workshops and conferences, be involved in mentoring undergraduate research assistants, and spearhead a research project connected to Museum Queeries based on their own interests and its intersection with the larger project.
- Assist with duties related to the production of articles, publications, reports and presentations.
- Master’s degree in a related field (Women’s and Gender Studies, Cultural Studies, Fine Arts, Museology, English)
- Experience in Microsoft Word
- Experience in Google Docs / Google Drive
- Experience in literature review and exhibition review
- Experience in academic writing
- Curatorial experience
- Experience with working with 2S+LGBTTQ communities
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Demonstrated ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Demonstrated ability to accurately perform duties and meet specified deadlines
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
