Shop Supervisor - Northwest

Position Summary
The Shop Supervisor - Northwest is accountable for interfacing with Operations to understand and manage their needs within Shop constraints and for the financial and technical performance of the Shop.
Role Purpose
The purpose of this role is to interface with Operations leaders (Construction, RMC, Aggregates) for repair and maintenance prioritization and scheduling, organizing daily shop activities and priorities, and planning and rostering mechanic coverage on remote projects and/or job sites to support Operation. The Shop Supervisor - Northwest is also responsible for continuous development in both shop processes, 6S activities, mechanic training and career planning.
Key Business Responsibilities
This includes, but is not limited to the following:
  • Ensure compliance to all company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
  • Maintain shop, tools, and equipment to promote a clean and safe environment.
  • Ensure timely and accurate invoice processing, employee time posting, parts orders, and customer follow up.
  • Manage day to day operations including staff and schedules to ensure timely repair progression.
  • Set up and implement preventative / proactive maintenance program.
  • Budget and plan for maintenance activities including staff, parts, schedule, and equipment.
  • Manage procurement of parts, inventory, and fuel management through purchase order system (JDE).
  • Work as part of leadership team to communicate critical decisions with integrity, quality, urgency, and teamwork.
  • Conduct weekly tailgate safety meetings and enforce all safety policies and procedures.
  • Interview, select, train, discipline and terminate employees as needed.
  • Perform all other duties deemed necessary or assigned.
Experience and Knowledge Required for the Role:
  • Five (5) years’ previous experience in Manufacturing and/or Facility maintenance or Operations role.
  • Three (3) years experience in facility or construction project management.
  • Microsoft Suite experience, Word, Excel, Power Point to prepare reports and review documents.
  • Oracle JDE experience (an asset).
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license with a safe driving record.
  • Bias to action, willingness to take ownership of issues and drive to resolution.
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills with proven experience leading installation or expansion projects.
  • Detail oriented with ability to analyze information and make decisions based on data.
  • Ability to summarize complex issues, in executive format or technical format.
  • Ability to promote process improvement, develop standards, and manage processes.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships internal and external to the company.
  • Ability to assist in building and tracking budgets and profit & loss statements.
  • Travel is expected. Estimated 25 to 50% of the time.

Working Conditions
  • Ability to travel to various business units and corporate offices as required
  • Overtime as required
  • Use of Personal Protection Equipment if required
  • Must comply with the company’s drug and alcohol testing requirements
  • Manual dexterity required to use computer and peripherals

Compensation:

The anticipated salary range for this position is around $100,000 CAD per year. The final compensation package will be determined based on factors including the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
