Role Overview
The Terminal Manager reports directly to the VP, LTL & Terminal Operations is responsible for overseeing a diverse range of LTL operations (P&D and Cross-dock) across multiple shifts within a fast-paced environment. This position is responsible to keep freight moving within safety and business guidelines while maintaining strong, positive relationships with customers. This position will work closely with the other managers in the areas of the other operational divisions. Your Responsibilities
- This position is responsible to keep freight moving within safety and business guidelines while maintaining strong, positive relationships with customers
- Lead, guide and direct terminal employees to include setting goals, monitoring performance, providing coaching, counseling and development
- Accountable for the management of an efficient, clean and safe LTL operation
- Enforce understanding and compliance with all policies and procedures; safety rules and government regulations
- Develop and deliver internal and external strategies to provide superior service to customers
- Ensure service goals, expenses, budgets, and internal/external obligations with are met
- Support customer relationships, oversee cost controls, and ensure safety, and quality measures are implemented, audited and monitored for corrections
- Responsible for meeting all the KPI's set forth by the company
- Maintain an effective working relationship with other departments such as safety, sales, claims, loss prevention, customer care, and fleet services
- Directly investigate the source of customer complaints and respond accordingly to implement corrective actions and continuous improvement opportunities
- CITT certification or university/college degree in a related field considered an asset but not required.
- Minimum 5 years of management within transporation and logisitic related experience.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to multitask and consistently meet deadlines.
- Self-motivated individual with analytical decision-making abilities.
- Effective communication skills, both with individuals and groups.
- Proficient in analyzing situations, identifying problems or conflicts, and negotiating win-win solutions.
- Confident in leading teams, presenting to large groups, and providing constructive feedback.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, with proficiency in Word and Excel.
- Experience and knowledge of transportation safety and compliance issues
- Knowledge of the road transporation industry, including Atlantic Canadian geography and travel times, is considered an asset
- Experience with Truck Mate software considered an asset.
