Traffic Officer, Ancillary Services

Enforcement within Ancillary Services is currently seeking a Recurring Part-time Traffic Officer.
Reporting to the Associate Director, Parking and Transportation Services, this position is responsible for the enforcement of the Parking and Traffic Regulations on University property including the Main, South and Spy Hill campuses. The position would primarily be afternoon/evening shifts, but may include days and weekends. Some periods of high work load and activity. Must be willing to work in all weather conditions. Good customer service skills and the ability to handle difficult customers is an important part of this position.
Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):
- Using the Parking and Transportation Policies and Regulations, understand and interpret regulations as they apply to the issuance of parking infraction tickets.
- Provide enforcement of regulations in a fair and consistent manner.
- Provide excellent customer service to University community and general public while carrying out regular duties.
- Issue infraction ticket for vehicles which violate the parking regulations.
- Assist with traffic control and Motor Assistance Program.
- Some break or fill-in shifts in Parking kiosks.
- Act as an ambassador for the University by providing assistance, information and directions to visitors, faculty, staff and students.
- Minimum completion Grade 12 equivalency.
- Ability to use computerized equipment in an effective manner.
- Good customer service skills.
- Ability to make consistent and reliable decisions.
- Demonstrate basic mechanical abilities.
- Capability of walking for several hours per shift.
- A valid Class 5 driver¿s license (cannot be a graduated license) with proven good driving record (abstract required).
