Conditions of Employment:
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

  • Ability to work overtime as necessary
  • Must qualify for an appointment as a Staff Justice of the Peace pursuant to statutory requirements
Qualifications:
Essential:

  • Significant administrative/clerical experience in a court, legal or related environment
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills including the ability to handle multiple tasks in pressure situations with strict deadlines
  • Ability to maintain accuracy and pay attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to resolve conflict
  • Experience dealing effectively with stakeholders, which may include the public, judiciary, legal profession or law enforcement agencies
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as contribute to a respectful workplace
  • Effective analytical and problem solving skills with proven ability to make sound decisions
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent English verbal communication skills with the ability to project vocally without error
  • Excellent English written communication skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook and Excel) or equivalent programs

Desired:
  • Experience scheduling and coordinating resources to meet business operations
  • Experience with court related computer system such as CCAIN, ROTA and COMS

Duties:
This position reports directly to Regional Manager, Provincial Trial Coordination, and is responsible for booking trials, preliminary hearings, dispositions, bails, inquests, case management, pre-trials, and motions for the Provincial Court including taking direction from the Chief Judge of the Provincial Court with respect to scheduling. This position is responsible for scheduling the judges of the Thompson Court to their assignments as well as booking Thompson circuit facilities including the fly in circuits and investigating and booking suitable and reliable ground transportation in the various communities.
