Primary Purpose:
This is a key appointment for the continued successful development of Andor’s Life Science growing business. The appointed individual to Application Scientist for Life Science will assist in the development and execution of the strategy which will exploit the significant growth potential and market share within China for Life Science Research and Systems.
Key Responsibilities Develop and execute Sales strategies and goals with head of sales to achieve China sales targets. Support current business and generate new business through providing advanced application and sales support. To identify and engage with key customer accounts, both current and potential to define current and future requirements. Maintain good customer relationships, providing regular contact and developing self as technical “go to person” within the industry and projecting a professional and competent image of Andor and its products at all times. Support marketing / sales, furnishing leads for system sales, upgrades, support contracts and other market intelligence whilst in contact with the customer. To organize and present seminars, user-groups and workshops when required. To attend third-party seminars, user-groups and workshops when required. Coordinate and demonstrate instruments in customer laboratories and provide applications support to potential customers to build pipeline and advance opportunities through sales pipeline to closure. Provide additional customer training and application support to maximise customer experience, satisfaction and build brand loyalty. Support Third Party Resellers and Channel Partners through on site, website, phone, and customer facing Training Maintain and develop knowledge of assigned products and their common applications, undertaking appropriate training where necessary. Undertake any other tasks or responsibilities in line with the scope and level of responsibility of the post, which might reasonably be required.

Outstanding communication skills both verbally and written. Prior experience in making technical presentations.
Good interpersonal skills. Team-oriented, methodical with attention to detail.
Person Specification – Essential requirements unless stated
Education / Qualifications:
Relevant life science or relevant fields master’s degree essential, PHD and additional business qualification desirable.
Experienced and highly competent in using fluorescence microscopy and/or confocal microscopy for biological research required Successful experience in technical sales involving high-end microscopy imaging products.
Language skills: English (spoken and written).
PC knowledge, both hardware & software.
Clean driving licence
Ability to travel at short notice.
No restrictions regarding overseas travel & length of stay.
Professional Skills/ Abilities:
Able to demonstrate EMCCD/SCMOS/CCD integration with microscope and spin disk confocal imaging system Self-motivated and can work effectively with little supervision. Problem solver under pressure. Adaptable, able to flex to needs of customers, team and the business Builds long-term relationships based on trust and respect Proactive, self-starter, completes activities with minimal support. Initiates actions to develop new and better ways of working. Uses experiences to anticipate and manage events and has the resilience to remain on track, despite uncertainties. Supports others to do the same. Constructively challenges the way things are done and takes actions that improve personal and team outcomes.
