China Anti-Fraud Coordinator

About the Team
The objective of this team is to reduce the potential economic loss to AIG through the identification and investigation of suspicious insurance claims or suspicious insurance related activities covering all lines of business.
Supported by GIS Operations and Intelligence teams, this team works across multiple lines of business, carrying out enquiries into matters that have been identified as displaying suspicious activity.
About the role
The Anti-Fraud Coordinator role will be responsible for administering the referrals of suspicious claims from the China claims team along with a handful of Fraud Risk Policy Reporting requirements. The coordinator will regularly engage with key business stakeholders in support of the goal to mitigate AIG China’s Fraud Risk.
The position reports into the APAC Head of Fraud & Recovery and Head of Claims, China.
This role will be based in Shanghai, China.
What you need to know
Key accountabilities will include but not limited to:
1. Instruct and manage the third-party vendor performance regarding:
Investigation of suspicious insurance claims or suspicious insurance-related activities covering all lines of business. This includes managing all aspects of the investigation, including analysing facts on issues in question and a thorough review of interviews and statements of relevant witnesses.
Obtaining and preserving physical and documentary evidence to support investigations.
Coordinating necessary investigative techniques and resources, such as fieldwork through internal or external field resources, cognitive interviews, etc., and ensuring quality is accurate, timely, and appropriate in all cases.
Producing reports based on evidential findings and summary of outcomes.
2. Providing adjusters with the information required to progress the claim as appropriate on a timely basis.
3. Maintaining relevant Fraud Management Systems to ensure it adequately captures pre-warning, in-process control, and post-review management. This includes handling caseload across relevant jurisdictions while ensuring all tasks are completed properly and that data is authentic, complete, accurate and standardized for reporting purposes.
4. Establishing and maintaining professional working relationships with insurers, claimants, witnesses, lawyers, corporate employees, regulator, public security and judicial organs, industry organizations, and other insurance institutions to combat insurance fraud collectively.
5. With support from relevant departments within AIG China and the International Fraud & Recovery Centre of Excellence team:
Produce Reporting and Supervision as required from the Regulator
Conduct Anti-Fraud Training and Awareness campaigns
Develop and refine internal anti-fraud policies, systems, and procedures for insurance institutions to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and supervisory requirements
Conduct regular fraud risk assessments for key business units to identify potential fraud risk points.
Evaluate the extent of fraud risks, establish risk warning mechanisms, and promptly detect and report potential fraudulent activities.
What we’re looking for:
Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) – Mandarin and English.
Demonstrated experience in insurance or fraud investigations. Experience in multiple lines of business is a plus.
Basic understanding of insurance investigation techniques, fraud trends and key fraud indicators.
Ability to contribute and collaborate effectively within a team environment and with internal/external stakeholders at all levels.
Awareness of, and adherence to, local laws regarding techniques used for information gathering.
PC skills and experience with various investigation technologies, and systems (e.g. database searches, claims systems, case management systems).
Continuous improvement mindset and change adaptability. Motivated to pursue positive change and work with employees in facilitating recommended changes.
Ability to multi-task and organised at weighing and managing priorities, working to tight timelines when necessary.
Strong work habits focusing on safety, quality, productivity, risk/ compliance, customer focus.
Bachelor’s Degree/ equivalent preferred.
