Job Purpose
The role of the Category Procurement Manager (CPM) Warehousing and Logistic is to develop and implement a Procurement Strategy for Warehousing logistics services. This strategy will be developed in collaboration and alignment with the supply chain and operations. The CPM will develop, agree and implement an action plan with well-defined targets per fiscal year.
The CPM will also manage one Logistics Buyer.

To ensure an uninterrupted supply of quality logistics services at optimum cost by:
  • Design and implementation of the Logistics procurement strategy in particular for warehousing
  • Leading and support tendering activities, and contract negotiations
  • Supporting the supply chain and operations’ teams to drive continuous improvement on Logistics service, quality and cost structure.
  • Leading and supporting implementation of warehousing networking optimised footprint
  • Contributing to the standardization and centralization of logistics management within the business groups and business units in scope (AFEMEA and ASC)

Principal Accountabilities
People management
  • Manage develop, motivate and assign team member to appropriate tasks. Ensure career and succession planning. Identify and develop competencies and skills to further enhance the team efficiency
  • Lead and develop buyer(s) working in the category via setting priorities and performance goals for the buyer.
  • Ensure the right people are in the right place with the appropriate support to contribute to operating plan in order to deliver financial results in line with agreed budget

Strategy Design and Deployment
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of effective sourcing strategies for the logistics category in order to ensure quality of services and significant cost reductions. Translate the purchasing strategy in concrete actions plans for the logistics sub-categories
  • Apply 5-step sourcing methodology to design strategy. Market Intelligence: analyse the market for Logistics key sub-categories and seek support for this from other regions in scope (Americas, Asia). Assess supply base & market trends, size business opportunities and room for Business Group initiatives (including X-BG)
  • Work closely with key internal stakeholders to develop and implement effective sourcing strategies. Ensure that the needs of the sites are effectively represented in the purchasing strategies and to achieve this must work closely with the site management
  • While focusing mostly on external warehousing activities, provide support on other subcategories: road freight, ocean freight, express courier services, airfreight and rail.

Results Achievement
  • Result orientation with the monitoring of sound KPIs: Lead implementation of solutions for designated area in accordance with agreed roll-out schedule bringing savings and improving performance transparency and standardization of warehousing management (quality, service, and costs)
  • Track and report savings, support procure-to-pay process improvement within the category area; monitor cost out improvement as well as working capital improvement using the tracking tools in place
  • Provide periodic and ad hoc reporting and forecasting on performance against plan and potential in following up on KPIs and reporting on trends
  • Leading preparation and conducting tenders in a timely manner driving cost reductions and improvement of the quality of services to Amcor.
  • Actively support continuous improvement of procurement process and relevant IT solutions
  • Investigate and analyse the market, new equipment's, services and solutions available and seek new suppliers who may qualify to do business with Amcor
  • Contribute towards Purchasing excellence and customer satisfaction

Negotiation and contract management
  • Negotiate and select the best logistics suppliers specifying quality, quantity and other requirements
  • Apply Amcor Best Practices and Procurement Excellence process as well as using relevant IT platform
  • Regularly review and monitor contract realisation, and delivery
  • Identify and resolve issues or escalate issues, if required
  • Ensure transparency in carrying out execution purchasing procedure
  • Identify improvements to supplier contracts
  • Follow the set standards with respect to Purchasing and ensure consistency with the Amcor requirements and standards

Relationship Management
  • Build strong relationships with key service providers to partner and negotiate more interesting contractual agreements and service levels, leading to innovation.
  • Cooperates with other Amcor functions and partners to assist with project’s scheduling, contracting, executing and consults other Amcor departments in order to identify purchasing needs and requirements
  • Define development strategies with identified external partners
  • Solve any supply issues and communicate impact with relevant stakeholders
  • Provide support in preparation of necessary forms, records, reports and other documents
  • Develop and maintain close relationship with internal stakeholders and can be appointed as key primary contact to site/business unit on logistics procurement matters


Financial planning
  • Develops budgets and targets based on aggressive, well founded, realistic, forward oriented goals
  • Ensure that financial resource allocation is cost-effective, aligned with strategic and operational plans.
  • Build an accurate forecast for warehousing category price movements

Qualifications/Requirements
Professional Experience
    • 3+ years of relevant working experience in Logistics Procurement preferably on regional level (e.g. European, Asia Pacific…)
    • Experience of implementing multi-sites projects in Europe
    • Good understanding of logistics market development
    • Experience in market and benchmark analysis at a broad level
    • Experience in the selection of suppliers – in inquiry and/or negotiation and managing complex tenders with significant data management elements
    • Potential to develop further into a business position

Education and Certifications
    • University degree

    • Very structured with good project management skills and ability to work to tight deadlines
    • Team player, also capable to work with autonomy (self starter), set priorities, follow-up agreed processes and standards.
    • Customer service skills: commitment to solve problems and requests, understanding of the customer needs
    • Strong communication skills: Ability to work well with diverse users/clients/business partners and team members.
    • Ability to evolve in matrix environments
    • Excellent analytical skills, experience with e-sourcing solutions is a plus. Analytical skills need to be within high volumes of data (data mining/data crunching)
    • Excellent system/IT skills : agile with digital solutions
    • Problem solving abilities: Solves the majority of problems with no/minimal supervision. Uses intuition and logic to anticipate problems before they occur with an ability to analyze statistics and spot trends
    • Learns from successes and failures and proactively seeks to build knowledge to improve results
    • Ability to generate ideas to deliver improvements within the scope of the role
    • A high degree of commercial awareness

Language skills
    • English – required
    • Other langages French, German or Italian - desirable
