Data Center Operations Manager

Job Description


The Data Center is the core of SUSE’s life. It contains hundreds of machines of all possible kinds – from straightforward Intel servers to mainframes and prototypes.
As a Data Center Operations Manager you will be leading an international team of Data Center Technicians across the world, including the Czech Republic, Germany and the U.S. You will ensure that the development, delivery and supportability of SUSE's infrastructure is provided with the highest possible quality.
Your areas of responsibility may include infrastructure design, implementation, operation, and maintenance. You will establish functional business plans and technical project/program objectives to meet the short- and long-term goals and metrics of the organization.

Focus Areas
As a key member of SUSE’s Infrastructure Team your responsibilities will include:

• Management of the team of Data Center Technicians
  
• Participation in the recruiting process, instructs, assigns, directs, and reviews the work of infrastructure operations team members, prepares performance reviews and provides ongoing feedback
  
• Review projected level of effort with the team
  
• Constantly improving all our processes and procedures
  
• Assisting in implementing service methodologies including incident management, problem management, change management, capacity management
  
• Drive architectural simplification and ensures capabilities and applications are done
  
• Develops long term roadmap and strategy for support and maintenance of critical infrastructure
  
• Identifies exposures and provides recommendations develops corrective plans that will be provided to their next level management
  
• Provides leadership, advice, and guidance to Data Center staff in achieving current and long-range strategic program objectives
  
• Administration of third-party service agreements for the facility infrastructure systems
  
• Establish close working relationships with the engineering organization
  

About You:

• experience of implementation and troubleshooting of a data center environment
  
• Exposure to network and storage operations
  
• Experience managing multi-site or multi-region facilities locations
  
• Working knowledge and practical experience in increasing technology footprints, ensuring uptime, and working with network, security, and systems engineers to produce quality solutions
  
• Strong knowledge of server and network infrastructure
  
• Team management experience
  
• Fluent in English (written and spoken)
  
• Excellent technical communication skills required (verbal and written)
  
• Ability to travel to different locations globally
