Principal Mechanical Engineer – Piping Systems

- Evaluate project needs to determine the proper specifications for drawings, data sheets, and other standards to develop proper requisition packages.
- Responsible for pipe wall thickness calculations and vacuum design.
- Perform stress analysis of critical piping such as reactor area, turbine & compressor area, fired heaters, jacketed pipe, etc.
- Responsible for determining piping class as well as the specifications of licensor pipes, hot piping systems, and expansion joints.
- Participate in developing plot plans.
- nterface with customers, DEC firms, project managers, lifecycle support managers, process engineers, and members of the Lummus Mechanical Engineering Department.
- Review fabricator/DEC drawings and DEC pipe stress reports.
- Visit vendor shops and customer facilities as needed during construction, commissioning, and operation.
- Additional tasks as assigned by Mechanical Engineering Manager or Chief Mechanical Engineer.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related engineering discipline; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum 12 years of experience in mechanical engineering with a focus on pipe stress.
- Experience in propane dehydrogenation, ethyl benzene, styrene monomer, fluid catalytic cracking strongly preferred.
- Experience with Caesar II, Compress, Auto CAD, Navisworks, and other basic Microsoft Office software are required.
- Experience with ANSYS preferred.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 10% of the time at a duration between 1-3
