Intern for internal communication
Copenhagen
October 28, 2024
Who are we?
You will be part of DRC’s internal communications team, where we work with a broad range of communication activities, e.g. writing case stories targeted our global workforce, creating graphics or videos for internal campaigns, assisting at global events and we are responsible for our global intranet. Our communication products reflect all of DRC’s work, and we have close collaboration with colleagues in both headquarters, regions and countries.
About the internship
As an intern in Internal Communications, you will have a close cooperation with our colleagues in the support offices in Headquarters and in the organisation’s five core humanitarian sectors: Protection, Economic Recovery, Humanitarian Disarmament & Peacebuilding, Shelter & Settlements, Camp Coordination & Camp Management.
Hence you will get the opportunity to become acquainted with the work within an international NGO and how to communicate effectively about it. You will be given the possibility to work independently with different tasks that are related to your line of study and will participate in one week of induction with the opportunity to gain a better understanding of the different teams and departments within DRC.
DRC offers the opportunity to:
- Gain experience working for an international NGO;

- Be a part of a dynamic house with many relations to our countries and regions.
You will be supporting colleagues while gaining valuable working experience.
Responsibilities
As part of the internal communications team, you will support the dissemination of strategic messaging across the organization with a variety of methods and through different channels. Therefore, we expect you to:
- Participate in content meetings, where we plan and create content for internal channels – text, video, graphics etc.
- Communicate with country offices to gather stories, interviews and photographs that can both be used for strategic internal and external communication
- Gather and edit staff portraits from our country operations together with your colleagues
- Contribute to the development of our global intranet (based on MS Sharepoint Online)
- Help organise global meetings and events as well as produce communication products and minutes of the meetings.
- Work closely together with the communications student worker and the internal communications advisor, as well as with the external communications team.
We offer flexibility in the priorities, meaning that you have the possibility to influence the tasks subject to what is relevant for your study programme.
About you

- Be creative and have journalistic skills – experience with video and graphic production is an asset;
- Be fluent in both written and spoken English – professional proficiency in Danish, French or Spanish is an asset but not a requirement;
