We are searching for a person to step into a Lead Web Engineer role. The new role's key responsibility would be to improve our good development practices and the web application's architecture through hands-on development work.
Customer facing web frontend development happens currently in four different squads, which all have a part of the customer journey and site functionalities as their responsibility. As a lead engineer your responsibility would be improving and maintaining the site's overall performance, functionality and maintainability in the code through hands-on coding work. You should be interested in staying up to date with technology and have a keen eye on how our technical frameworks serve our business best (e.g. Next.js, React, CSS-in-JS, design systems, SSR, Graph QL, AWS, and serverless to name a few essential ones).
S-kaupat is a large and complex product, and with this role our goal is to support the overall resilience and sustainability of the development in the near future. To succeed in this role, it is essential to feel ownership of and desire to develop s-kaupat.fi as a platform. In addition to being an active participant in web development and leading the work by example, a Lead Web Engineer is expected to mentor and guide other developers and follow up on best practices guidelines becoming actual practices. Active communication and presence in discussions are key factors for making a difference in this role.
Based on our ways of working, as a Lead Web Engineer, your impact spreads wider than your own squad. You work in close co-operation with other roles, including S-kaupat shopping tribe Principal Engineer and Lead Mobile Engineer, as well as team leads and agile masters. A lead engineer is also an important participant in our communities of practice in the scope of S-kaupat, and it is also a good chance to have an impact in SOK Digital Development wide frontend community of practice.
