Accountant overview:
Location will be based in Frankfurt Germany.

Responsibilities:
General Accounting:
Post general ledger entries for Rapiscan Germany in both Enterprise Resource Systems (ERP) of Navision 5.0 and Dynamics 365.

Produce and review the monthly financial results for Rapiscan Germany at the Trial Balance level in accordance with the monthly reporting deadlines.

Perform the balance sheet reconciliations for Rapiscan Germany and resolve any queries that arise from the reconciliations.

Process and reconcile intercompany invoices with other companies in the OSI group of companies and meet the intercompany reporting deadlines.

Ensure German accounting and operational activities are compliant with the OSI group of companies SOX (Sarbannes Oxley) internal control requirements.

Support intercompany transacting.

Accounts Receivable:
Support the AR team with follow up with customers that are overdue with payments, and successfully secure payment.

Invoice customers for products and services sold by Rapiscan Germany, ensuring all tax, incoterms and other paperwork requirements are fulfilled.

Accounts Payable:
Ensure that supplier invoices are directed to the Regional Accounts Payable Team, that suppliers are paid in a timely manner and that suppliers queries are resolved.

Advise operational staff raising purchase orders and signing off invoices with the correct general ledger coding.

Inventory and Assets:
Support the European Regional Assets and Inventory Accountant with inventory management, Physical inventory counts, cycle counts, etc.

Manage the Capital Expenditure process for Rapiscan Germany.

Taxes:
Calculate and submit Rapiscan Germany VAT returns.

Calculate and submit Rapiscan UK VAT returns for its Germany VAT registration.

Submit Intrastat and EC sales reports for both companies VAT registrations.

Resolve tax queries with the German tax authorities for corporation tax, employee tax, social insurance, import VAT, VAT, withholding taxes etc. as applicable.

Statutory accounts:
Support the European Regional Statutory Accounts and Tax Accountant with the preparation of Rapiscan Germany statutory accounts and corporation tax returns, including answering any queries.

Ensure that Rapiscan Germany is compliant with its obligations to pay taxes and other financial commitments on time.

Payroll:
Support the Regional Payroll team with Germany specific payroll queries that may arise.

Resolve queries for employee pension contributions and additional voluntary contributions.

Legal:
Work with the European Regional Legal staff on administrative legal matters that may arise and get them resolved.

Qualifications:
Confident with reading, writing and speaking in English. The Regional staff that this role will be supporting are all English speaking.

Intermediate Excel skills, including confident in the use of pivot tables, logical formulae etc. Almost all aspects of the accounting activities are done using Excel.

Accounting skills to prepare financial results at the trial balance level.

Working knowledge of the different types of tax applicable in Germany as described in the job specification above.

Confident with working with limited supervision, being able to solve problems independently, and able to manage their work requirements effectively in an environment where priorities regularly change.
