Internship - Interpretation of measuremnts for insulation liquids on Transformers onsite (f/m/d)

This internship is the preliminary work to a more ambitious project to generate a simplified high frequency model of the transformer, based in finite element analysis (FEM) results to develop a simplified transformer circuit model.
In this project, the capacitance, inductance, and AC resistance matrix of the system would be obtained from FEM commercial software (ANSYS), and those matrices used to model a RLC circuit, equivalent to the transformer. This approach allows to consider different levels of detail in the model and evaluate its impact in the results, that could be checked against experimental records of dielectric tests.
Different lab tests, such as aging and compatibility tests, are conducted to evaluate the quality of solid and liquid insulation materials to decide if they are suitable for using in transformer application and if they will last until the end of expected lifetime. With the introduction of new insulation liquids among mineral oil, it has been realized that the guidance and the experience gained from working with mineral oil cannot be used straight forward with the new alternative liquids. Working in this field has shown that there is a gap between the lab results and the real application onsite.

Analyze the results with the target to introduce new key factors for evaluating the solid and liquid insulation material

Investigate the correlation between lab tests and transformer in operation
Your requirements

Bachelor/Master student in electrical engineering, physics or related

English B2 required to fluently communicate with the team
