The Hong Kong Palace Museum (HKPM) is a dedicated museum that showcases the exquisite artefacts from Palace Museum’s collections and collaborates with other museums in research, exhibitions, education and public programmes. The museum comprises 7 800 square metres of gallery space for standing and special exhibitions on Palace Museum’s collections of paintings, calligraphy, antiquities and historical objects, as well as thematic displays on world cultures and civilisations.

(This is a fixed-term contract position of 2-year with possibility for renewal subject to organisational needs and individual performance.)

You will be responsible for:

designing and managing graphic and multimedia projects for the Curatorial and Programming Department with short and long-term planning and managing executions of exhibitions, display projects, and other curatorial projects;
designing and providing solid solutions in multimedia project creation. Design to increase audience engagement and deliver quality outcomes with unique narratives that are visually pleasant and cohesive with the curatorial approach;
providing exhibition graphic support with a strong sense of typography and layout design. Overseeing the production coordinating work generated by third-party service providers such as video production and graphic production; to deliver quality outputs on time;
having a strong understanding of various digital solutions, from motion graphics, and video production, to immersive experiences, digital interaction, and a proven track record of delivering innovative and effective multimedia exhibition design projects;
lining up and collaborating with media artists, institutions, and vendors to successfully execute exhibition projects;
understanding the hardware installation and overseeing the design and installation process with internal and external parties;
managing various types of design projects and ensuring compliance with museum standards, including but not limited to schedules and budgets, ensuring deadlines are met, and overseeing the entire exhibition fabrication period; and
performing other duties as assigned by supervisor when deemed necessary.

You should:

possess a recognised university degree in graphic design, multimedia design, creative media or related disciplines;
have a minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience working with and managing sizable exhibitions, experience from a museum or gallery environment will be a plus;
have strong management with the ability to work with tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks within an ever-changing environment;
be immediate available, preferred;
be proficiency in using computer design software such as Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign; and
have excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills in English and Chinese.
