Laboratory Manager (MagIC2024-010)

Job Description:
  • Manage a central team for purchasing supplies and equipment, coordinating with researchers to place orders for chemicals, supplies and outsourcing for ensuring smooth daily operations of the laboratory;
  • Oversee the installation, testing, calibration, operation, and maintenance of highly sophisticated research facility and ancillary equipment to assure the optimal performance of all laboratory equipment;
  • Plan and execute quality control in laboratory procedures and techniques, and ensure quality control on R&D activities;
  • Perform risk assessment on operations, identify risks, and undertake preventive measures such as engineering controls;
  • Prepare, review, and implement SOP to ensure laboratory operation standard and data integrity;
  • Ensure compliance with various regulations and safety guidelines, and implement corrective action plans as needed;
  • Facilitate ongoing and upcoming R&D by providing necessary operational supports;
  • Train laboratory personnel on established laboratory procedures, scheduling, safety and equipment maintenance;
  • Monitor a biorepository in both Hong Kong Science Park and Prince of Wales Hospital;
Job Requirements:
  • A degree or above in Science, Engineering or other related disciplines;
  • A minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience, knowledge in regulatory compliance/ audit in academia or industry is recommended;
  • Hands-on experience in laboratory operation and equipment management;
  • Proficient in various aspects of facility and laboratory management, including laboratory building services, electrical and mechanical services, laboratory safety, principle, regulation, and compliance;
  • Self-motivated and team-oriented with problem-solving ability and excellent documentation skills;
  • Proficient in both written and spoken English and Chinese;
  • Based in Hong Kong Science Park and Prince of Wales Hospital
Appointment will be made on a contract basis for one year, renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement.
