Operations Director, Mainland China and Hong Kong

Role summary:

Reporting to the CEO, Asia, the Operations Director (OD) will be responsible for supporting the CEO in the day to day operations of the Mainland China and Hong Kong business.

The OD will work very closely with the COO and MD to execute the local strategic plan and the top-line growth (NR, EBITDA and DSO) opportunities across multiple business lines including Transport & Infrastructure, Property & Buildings, Earth & Environment and Power.

Closely working with the HR, Finance and Legal teams to oversee the country and RDOA and GAP process, together with dispute and resolution management and compliance will also be an important part of this role. In additionally, closely working with Mar Comms and IT functions to support overall business operations.

Key responsibilities include:

Leading and managing the day-to-day operations of the country business in accordance with the strategic plan and operating/capital budgets; Responsibilities include: health, safety and wellbeing, ethics, talent, communications, resolution of issues and project development; Working very closely with the COO and MD, and closely working with Business Line Directors and Functional leads (Development Director, IT and Mar Comms).
Be part of the Asia Risk Committee Team to review and approval of bids and tenders.
Continual support to the MD and proactively working to identify areas for improvement across the business lines, including Net Working Capital, Operating Margins, Ulitizations and CAPEX.
Continual support to review Business Lines's persues and bids according to the RDOA process and provide risk mitigation measures and presenting to the Asia RC and GAP.
Lead the Project Delivery Initiative, new ERP and overseeing the execution at the country level to ensure effectiveness of project review process and governance for quality project delivery.
Lead country to achieve HSEQ and ISO objectives and certification.
Partificpate in the ASIA HSEQ and Operational leadership team meetings.
Working with the Human Resource Manager/Director and maintaining a positive and ethical work climate that is conducive to attracting, retaining and motivating a diverse group of top-quality employees at all levels.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree or above in Civil or Electrical & Mechanical Engineering or a related field
Minimum 15 years of experience in engineering or related industry, with at least 5 years in a senior management or similar role
Proven track record of successfully leading and managing multiple business operation in Mainland China and Hong Kong
Professional Engineering qualification is preferred, eg. MHKIE or equivalent.
Strong leadership, influencing, and communication skills
Ability to think strategically and execute tactically
Strong financial acumen and experience with budget management
Good command of spoken and written English and Chinese, and fluent mandarin will be an advantage
