Registration Assistant, M+ Museum

M+ is a museum dedicated to collecting, exhibiting, and interpreting visual art, design and architecture, moving image, and Hong Kong visual culture of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Located in Hong Kong’s West K, we are one of the leading museums of modern and contemporary visual culture in the world. The museum reflects our unique time and place, building on Hong Kong’s historic balance of the local and the international to define a distinctive and innovative voice for Asia’s twenty-first century.

(This is a fixed-term contract position of 2-year with possibility for renewal subject to organisational needs and individual performance.)

You will be responsible for:

providing support to the Registration team on collection activities such as cataloguing, list preparation, labelling, rehousing and packing;
preparing the storage environment for artwork arrival (cleaning, supply organisation, labelling of storage furniture);
supporting installations through cleaning and preparation of display cases, labelling and tracking of packing materials, tools and supplies;
providing general administrative support to the Registration team (filing, scanning, and data entry, etc.); and
performing other duties as assigned by supervisor when necessary.

You should:

possess a recognised university degree or equivalent in art history, museum studies, library management or cultural studies;
have 1 year of working experience in a museum, gallery or library;
possess knowledge of Collection Management software or other related systems is preferred;
have the ability to work accurately with meticulous attention to detail;
be proactive with strong organising as well as ability to work under pressure;
have the ability to work both independently and co-operatively with others in a fast-paced team environment;
be able to work at height and perform heavy lifting work;
be computer literate with knowledge of Excel, Word and Adobe applications; and
have good communication skills in both oral and written Chinese and English.
