What you’ll do


We are looking for a software engineer with experience & passion for the development & operation of Kubernetes-based cloud services at scale.
Our team is running 3 cloud logging services which are part of BTP (Business Technology Platform) – a core element in SAP long-term strategy. Our services have to meet high requirements in terms of scale, throughput, and resilience. Big data streams, highly distributed processing, constant reconciliation, automation, and fault tolerance are part of our daily business. Our services provide observability means and are used by other teams to collect, aggregate, analyze, and alert on their operational data (logs, metrics, traces).


As a Software Engineer, you will develop and operate cloud services at scale following cloud-native paradigms. Exposure to modern technologies such as Kubernetes, Docker, or Go and open-source projects (e.g. Open Search, Prometheus, Fluent D) will be your daily life. You will work in an agile team in which you assume responsibility for larger user stories, contribute as an active team player, and be a proactive networker.


What you bring


What is essential for the role?

• In the first place? An open mind!
• A good bachelor's or master’s degree in computer science or a related technical discipline

Cloud Engineering

• Strong experience with relevant cloud technologies most relevant being Kubernetes (possibly also AWS/Azure/GCP, Cloud Foundry/Bosh)
• Confidence working within Linux environments and experience with distributed systems and concepts of resilience

Software Engineering

• Proficiency in modern programming languages and concepts, such as Go, Java, node.js
• Strong experience with state-of-the-art software engineering methodologies, e.g., test-driven-development, continuous integration, Git and/or Jenkins
