The Data Steward – KPI reportingcornerstone of Morgan Stanley’s risk management philosophy is the execution of risk-adjusted returns through prudent risk-taking that protects Morgan Stanley’s capital base and franchise. Risk Management protects the firm from exposure to losses resulting from defaults by our lending and trading counterparties. The Risk Management Division is responsible for the independent identification, analysis, reporting and escalation of all market, credit and operational risk exposures arising from the Firm’s business activities, acting independently of business management and providing an effective challenge process.

You will:

• Run and manage the Data Quality KPI reporting process (weekly and monthly)
• Develop new Data Quality KPIs on demand
• Collaborate with relevant teams and stakeholders
• Supervise the work of the intern colleague assigned to issue analysis
• Assign issues to projects (weekly)
• Maintenance and development of the Power BI based DQ dashboard
• Identify, measure, understand and communicate data related risks in critical MRD dataflows
• Participate in innovative projects related to data analysis, visualization, and process automation
• Collaborate with stakeholders and partners distributed in different regions (New York, London, Frankfurt, and Mumbai) and teams such as Finance, IT, Risk Analytics, Model Risk Management, etc.
• Balance between regular, development and ad-hoc related tasks

You have:

• University or College degree in any data related field, statistics or business management
• Basic understanding of financial products is required, including familiarity with risk management concepts such as risk measures, option greeks, etc.
• Good understanding of data manipulation, automation, and visualization:
• SQL (case when statements, sub queries, joins),
• Excel (e.g. VBA, v-look up, index/match, pivot tables, etc.)
• Power BI
• Strategic thinking
• Curiosity, willingness to dig deeper into data and explore linkages
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to prioritize and work effectively with colleagues to meet a common goal
• Willing to be flexible and work across work-streams as needed
• Self-motivated, proactive with project manager mindset

You might also have:

• Good understanding of Agile Principles is a plus
• Experience in UAT and experience in product development support is an advantage

Team Profile:

The role includes significant collaboration with partners across the globe, particularly in New York, London, Frankfurt, and Mumbai. The candidate selected for the role will need to balance technical skills, business knowledge, process-management, and people skills to navigate the technical and organizational hurdles of shepherding the valuable corporate data of the Firm.
