Hungary Job Openings
ELI-HU Nonprofit
Research Fellow within Computational and Applied Materials Science Team
October 2, 2024
ELI-ALPS (https://www.eli-alps.hu/), part of the Extreme Light Infrastructure (ELI) project, is a
world-leading research facility in Szeged, Hungary, dedicated to studying ultrashort high-
energy processes. As one of three pillars of this European megaproject, ELI-ALPS provides
cutting-edge ultrashort light sources, including attosecond XUV and X-ray pulses, for the
scientific community, enabling groundbreaking research in light-matter interactions, valence
and core electron science, materials science, 4D imaging, and various biomedical
applications..
Our Theory and Simulations Group at ELI-ALPS is a vital component of the research activities.
We focus on the development and application of computational methods for simulating
ultrafast light-induced phenomena in molecules and periodic materials. We collaborate
closely with experimental teams, offering support for user experiments as well as conducting
our own research.
Research Fellow positions are available in the Computational and Applied
Materials Science Team
Key research areas (in collaboration with experimentalists and AI researchers):
Experimental characterization of perovskite structures with novel polymer-based
encapsulants for solar cell applications
Data mining, data-driven materials design utilizing machine learning techniques
Designing perovskite structures with novel polymer-based encapsulants
Experimental and numerical photoresponse and ultrafast charge migration dynamics
studies in perovskite interfaces.
DFT, TDDFT MD simulations for perovskite morphologies, polymer-perovskite
interactions and associated nonlinear response.
Multi-scale simulations towards design, and synthesis of energy materials related to
energy harvesting, storage, and conversion.
Our team works in close collaboration with experimental researchers, and also provides
simulation support for user experiments carried out at ELI ALPS .
Required skills and abilities:
Ph D holders (or equivalent degree) in physics, chemistry, physical chemistry or
materials science
For Ph D candidates: Master's degree.
Good programming skills. Knowledge of Python, C, or Fortran, and familiarity with
Bash and with Linux environments.
Experience in Machine learning (preferred and is an advantage)
