- Investigate and analyze the properties and potential uses of textiles and other fashion-related materials.
- Stay current with material science advancements, especially in the fashion and textile industries, including sustainable innovations.
- Identify and source fabrics, textiles, and other materials needed for fashion collections or projects.
- Build and maintain relationships with suppliers, ensuring quality, availability, and cost-effectiveness while adhering to the fashion industry's standards.
- Develop and test combinations of materials (e.g., fabric blends) to meet design, performance, and durability standards.
- Conduct experiments to evaluate material properties, such as texture, flexibility, and sustainability, for fashion applications.
- Maintain detailed records of material specifications, sourcing details, and test results for future reference.
- Prepare comprehensive reports and recommendations for designers and other stakeholders.
- Work closely with fashion designers and product developers to ensure materials align with the vision and functionality of clothing lines or fashion products.
- Provide insights on material properties that influence design decisions (e.g., draping, wearability, or sustainability).
- Research and propose eco-friendly and sustainable materials, focusing on reducing the environmental footprint in the fashion industry.
- In-depth knowledge of fabric properties, trends, and innovative materials used in fashion.
- Strong analytical skills for material testing and experimentation.
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally with designers, developers, and suppliers.
- Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Must be able to speak English
