Job Description
Role Purpose
The independent living care staff will have a key role in assisting people live a life of their choosing using a model of support which builds capacity and promotes independence.
In addition the supported independent living care staff will have a key role in ensuring the model of service provided in tenant homes is person centered and based on a social model of support.
Key Responsibilities
  • Build a relationship with the person to establish a support network/circle of support with them that includes family (where appropriate), advocates, natural and paid supports
  • Establish and maintain networks and connections with the person and the community in which they live;
  • To promote self-development, independence and individuality of each person. This may include implementation and guidance of resources such as ASDAN, Pathways to Independence and other models relevant to the person’s needs;
  • Assist, advice and support tenants with aspects of daily living if required; for example banking, tenancy requirements or home maintenance;
  • To create and maintain good interpersonal relations with tenants, multi-disciplinary team members, family and advocates;
  • To recognise the signs of abuse and immediately report abuse or suspected abuse to the designated officer or line manager;
  • Demonstrate effective time management and ability to manage competing priorities;
  • Demonstrate an ability to use IT applications such as Word, Powerpoint and Excel.
The Person
  • QQI Level 5 qualification in Healthcare Support.
  • An understanding of relevant national standards for Disability services.
  • Has the ability to facilitate and implement a person centred plan.
  • Possesses effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Has a strong understanding of safeguarding and service user protection.
  • Proficient computer skills including MS Office; Word, Excel, Power Point.
  • Full clean driver’s license and access to own car.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Report writing skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Previous experience and training in medication management is desirable.

    Key Duties and Principle Duties & Responsibilities of the Role:

    Qualifications & Candidates must meet the following criteria relevant to the role:
    Experience

    • QQI Level 5 qualification in Healthcare Support.

    Terms and Conditions of Employment
    Care Staff – Supported Independent Living



    Remuneration Remuneration is in accordance with the
    Department of Health consolidated pay scales

    Current Salary Scale: Care Assistant

    €32,699 - €45,984 LSI

    Salaries and increments are paid in accordance
    with DOH salary scales

    Annual leave 22 Days per annum


    Working week The hours allocated to this post are 39 hours
    per week with a flexibility Monday to Sunday
    required.
    Working hours rostered to suits the needs of
    the tenents.


    Probation All employees will be subject to a probationary
    period of 6 months, with an extension if
    required to 9 months. This probationary period
    applies to all employees irrespective of their
    role or type of role.

    Garda Vetting Stewarts will carry out Garda vetting on all new
    employees. An employee will not take up
    employment with the organisation until the
    Garda Vetting process has been completed and
    the organisation is satisfied that such an
    appointment does not pose a risk to the service
    users and employees.

    from current and previous employers,
    educational institutions or any other
    organisation with which the candidate has been
    associated. Stewarts reserves the right to
