Job Description
Role Purpose
To provide a range of speech and language therapy services to children 0 – 18 years and their families who attend Children Network Disability Team, within an interdisciplinary framework and family centred practice and to support other staff and students as assigned.
Incorporates the provision of Feeding, Eating, Drinking and Swallowing (FEDS) management.
Have the responsibilities of a Mandated Person as outlined in the Child Care Act 2015.

Role requirements
Essential:
  • Have 3 years full time (or an aggregate of 3 years full time) post qualification clinical experience.
  • Be registered, or be eligible for registration, as a Speech and Language Therapist by the Speech and Language Therapists Registration Board at CORU.
  • Previous speech and language therapy experience working with children or within the disability sector.


Desirable:
  • Experience of inter/transdisciplinary team working.
  • Experience working with children with disorders of Feeding, Eating, Drinking and Swallowing (FEDS) needs.
  • Any relevant post graduate training specific to child disability services.
  • Specific training and experience in assessment of Autistic Spectrum Disorder.
  • Experience in assessment of children who have a physical and/or sensory disability and/or intellectual disability.
  • Experience of supporting children/young persons with life limiting conditions.
  • Previous experience in a senior post.
  • Experience of completing assessments under the AON process.

    Reporting Relationship Children’s Disability Network Manager
    To provide a range of speech and language therapy services to

    Key Duties and
    Responsibilities

    Qualifications & Essential:
    Experience Have 3 years full time (or an aggregate of 3 years full time) post

    Knowledge and understanding of the theory and frameworks of
    assessment and intervention in Speech & Language Therapy

    Understanding and knowledge of Progressing Disability
    Services.

    Understanding and knowledge of clinical support and
    supervision.

    Evidence and commitment to continuous professional
    development.

    Desirable:
    Demonstrate experience in the provision of mentoring,
    coaching and supervision.

    Experience of MDT or Interdisciplinary working

    Experience of Assessment of Need

    Experience of caseload prioritisation Systems
    Core Competencies Essential:
    Demonstrates competency in written and verbal
    communication skills.

    Knowledge of statutory framework in the area of disability and
    children.

    Ability to organise work load in an effective manner.

    Good recording practice.

    An awareness and of professional requirements in order to
    carry out their duties in a compliant manner that meets best
    practice.

    Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team and across teams.

    Ability to deliver training to parents, staff or other agencies.

    Participation in clinical supervision to ensure the maintenance
    of clinical service standards and assuring quality.

    Desirable:
    Experience developing policies or protocols.


    Evidence of engagement in continuous professional

    development.


    Experience in auditing.

    Experience in the provision of clinical supervision.


    Demonstrate evidence of managing change.


    Demonstrate evidence of leading out on new initiatives.

    Terms and Conditions of Employment
    Senior Occupational Therapist - Stewarts


    Remuneration Remuneration is in accordance with the
    Department of Health consolidated pay
    scales

    Current Salary Scale: Senior OT payscale

    €61,424 -€72,325 pro rata

    Salaries and increments are paid in
    accordance with DOH scales

    Annual leave 29 Days per annum
    Probation All employees will be subject to a
    probationary period of 6 months, with an
    extension if required to 9 months. This
    probationary period applies to all
    employees irrespective of their role or type
    of role.

    Garda Vetting Stewarts will carry out Garda vetting on all
    new employees. An employee will not take
    up employment with the organisation until
    the Garda Vetting process has been
    completed and the organisation is satisfied
    that such an appointment does not pose a
    risk to the Service Users and employees.

    References Stewarts will seek up to two written
    references from current and previous
    employers, educational institutions or any
    other organisation with which the
    candidate has been associated. Stewarts
