In 2023 CAE was acquired by the ESS group. ESS Group includes three companies – Engineering Support & Services Ltd. (ESS), Eirdata Environmental Services Ltd. (Eirdata), and the newly joined Critical Airflow Europe (CAE).
ESS are experts in asset management and maintenance reliability through people.
Eirdata are specialists in cleanroom validation, commissioning and compliance, HVAC systems, indoor air quality and building wellness.
Position Overview:
As a Business Development Engineer at CAE, you will bridge the gap between technical engineering and customer relations, working to tailor solutions that meet client needs while driving company growth. Your technical expertise combined with sales acumen will help you identify opportunities, build strong client relationships, and support clients in meeting their critical airflow and environmental control requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Relationship Management: Understand customer needs by establishing rapport with potential and existing clients. Provide tailored engineering solutions and technical product adaptations to meet their specific requirements.
Sales Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities. Organize and conduct sales calls and presentations with consulting engineers and other stakeholders to promote CAE solutions.
Technical Consultation: Act as the point of contact for technical and engineering inquiries, providing product information, recommendations, and solutions to clients and consultants.
Proposal & Costing: Prepare detailed cost estimates and technical proposals by reviewing client documentation and consulting with engineering and architectural teams.
Project Management Support: Assist with order submissions and manage any required engineering changes. Ensure timely project execution in collaboration with internal teams.
Training & Knowledge Sharing: Support customer teams with technical information and product training, helping to increase their understanding of our solutions.
Market Analysis: Keep abreast of market trends, competitive activity, and emerging technologies. Provide insights and analysis through regular sales engineering reports.
Continuous Learning: Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge by attending workshops, participating in professional societies, and expanding your industry network.
Team Collaboration: Contribute to overall team success by proactively addressing short- and long-term business challenges, recommending innovative solutions, and implementing company directives.
Preferred Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Mechanical, Electrical, or related field (or equivalent technical qualifications).
3 to 5 years of sales experience in a relevant industry, ideally with exposure to HVAC, laboratory control systems, or critical airflow solutions.
Familiarity with consulting engineers, architects, or similar professional stakeholders is a plus.
Key Skills & Attributes:
Proven ability to solve complex technical problems with a customer-centric approach.
Strong technical understanding of airflow control systems or related products.
Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills with the ability to simplify technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
Experience in requirements analysis and developing tailored engineering solutions.
Proficiency in delivering impactful product presentations and closing sales opportunities.
Ability to think innovatively and work independently in a dynamic environment.
Experience in managing the sales process with the use of a CRM.
