ALS Minerals is internationally recognised as the global leader in providing geochemical sample preparation, analytical procedures and data management solutions, with its European hub lab based in Loughrea, Co. Galway.
We are currently seeking applications for a Data Approver to join our Data Approval Department.
Duties / Responsibilities:

• Assist Head of Data Approval in achieving targets as regards to quality of the analytical work and turnaround time.
• Run approval and processing of results from LECO (Sulphur and Carbon results), Fire Assay (both by AAS and ICP instruments), Base Metals results (by AAS instrument), and offline methods, including csv uploading.
• Reviewing final data generated from various instrumentation to ensure that all aspects of the reported data are correct before release to client.
• Review internal QC data including standards, blanks and duplicates and investigate any deviations or inconsistencies.
• Communicate issues with workorders/client results to departments and QC.
• Assist Quality Manager in investigation of cases of non-conforming work or client complaints.
• To assist Head of Data Approval Dept. in validation of new analysis methods.
• Complete all required records as per ISO 17025, INAB requirements and the laboratory’s quality management system.
• Use statistical methods to evaluate round robin data prior to release to clients.
• Other duties assigned by Head of Data Approval.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to effectively handle a high volume of work and time critical issues
• Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal)
• Strong MS Office skills, specifically MS Word, Excel and Outlook.

Qualification & Training:
A third level degree in Chemistry, Physics or Spectroscopy or in a similar science discipline.

Note: This role is a Day shift position (Monday to Friday) with overtime required on a scheduled basis.
