Position Summary:
Key Objectives
Data Management:
- Prepare, collate and validate data which may provide assurance to the Hospitals’ Executive Management Group and Hospital Board and externally at Hospital Group Level.
- In collaboration with the PALS, and Risk & Legal Departments conduct trend analysis of complaints and incidents and develop reports to highlight relevant information to the relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure that the quality of data within the sphere of responsibility of the Quality & Safety Directorate is of the highest quality and that individual managers and staff understand their roles and responsibilities with respect to data accuracy.
- Co-ordinate and validate information provided for internal reports and to external agencies as required.
- Assist in co-ordaining data for RCSI HG Serious Incident Management Forum (Medical and Peri-operative)
- Take a lead role in the development of reports that will inform quality improvement in various areas across the hospital.
- Develop systems to ensure relevant stakeholders are informed in a timely fashion of potential risk to achieving KPI’s.
- Oversee the collection and analysis of data, interpret findings, prepare reports and participate in the presentation of findings and facilitation of actions needed to achieve improvement.
- Comply with the Data Protection Act 2018, General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and hospital policies & procedures in the processing of data.
- Provide cross functional cover for other data managers to ensure continuity of service.
- To work with key stakeholders as required to ensure 100% capture rate and validation of data
- To co-ordinate the production of information in order to supply reports for specific purposes within and outside the hospital.
- To assist/partake in providing data to support research projects where relevant.
- To assist in supporting practice changes, and in tracking the impact of those changes through the provision of data.
- To work with other Data Managers and provide support to the wider Quality & Safety team.
Quality and Standards:
- Develop and maintain in conjunction with relevant stakeholders, site specific standard operating procedures (SOP’s) for the effective and efficient management of data and generation of reports.
- Work with the wider Quality & Safety team to identify areas where key performance indicators (KPI’s) are not being achieved and undertake corrective action.
- Develop systems to ensure relevant stakeholders are informed in a timely fashion of potential risk to achieving KPI’s.
Communication:
- Establish effective communication networks with internal and external stakeholders.
- Work with other members of the Quality & Safety team to ensure timely and accurate data communicated to internal and external stakeholders.
- Inform new team members of data management processes and standard operating procedures.
Personal Development:
- In conjunction with line manager agree learning objectives designed to meet development goals and to improve service.
- Participate in quarterly performance meetings with line manager.

- IT literate
- Data management and reporting experience
- Experience in the analysis, interpretation and presentation of data to relevant audiences
- Experience using healthcare information systems
- Good knowledge of hospital performance metrics
- Good understanding of best practice in data protection
- Knowledge of implementing data quality measures and bringing expertise/innovation to data management issues
- Evidence of commitment to continual personal development
Desirable:
- Relevant third level qualification
- Relevant postgraduate qualification in Healthcare Statistics or equivalent
- Experience of working closely with a range of colleagues in health and academic bodies engaged in data analysis and research
- Good understanding of the clinical audit process
