- We are seeking an innovative and results-driven Data Science Lead to join our newly established AI Centre of Excellence (Co E). The AI Co E will be responsible for driving and supporting the development and implementation of AI solutions across the business and ensuring alignment with our AI framework and data ethics principles. As Data Science Lead, you will be responsible for implementing AI solutions that are aligned to the bank's strategic objectives and deliver positive customer outcomes, and measurable business value. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that AI initiatives are aligned with the bank’s strategic objectives and regulatory requirements.

The successful candidate will leverage advanced analytics, machine learning, and statistical techniques to extract insights from vast amounts of data, develop predictive models, and contribute to the creation of AI-driven solutions that deliver measurable value for the business, and better and fairer outcomes for our customers, colleagues and communities.

- Develops, inspires and motivates a team of highly skilled data scientists across a programme of diverse data science projects.
- Will deliver a catalogue of use cases with proven value, utilising a broad spectrum of techniques.
- Applies scientific methods through experimental design, exploratory data analysis and hypothesis testing to reach robust conclusion.
- Demonstrates critical thinking, adept at identifying and articulating data science solutions supporting business growth.
- Is future focused, continuously developing data science and AI knowledge, and ways of utilising new tools and techniques to tackle business and organisational challenges, ensuring knowledge, ideas and best practice is adopted across the team.
- Thinks holistically and strategically with a proven ability to plan, organise, and manage complex AI products.
- MSc or Ph D in Statistics, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence or equivalent qualification.
- Strong leadership and organisation skills in Data Science, with 4+ years of experience leading, motivating, coaching and inspiring highly skilled data scientists to deliver high value products.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of AI concepts, tools, and applications, and familiarity with the AI landscape and trends.
- Demonstrate solid foundation of statistics, predictive modelling, machine learning algorithms/ frameworks (e.g. scikit-learn) and deep learning frameworks (e.g. Tensorflow, Keras, Py Torch).
- Strong coding abilities in SQL, as well as Python or R.
- Streamlines and Simplifies: Analyses and makes decisions on the most relevant technique or tool to use to resolve complex business problems. May prioritise work and assign tasks to other members of the team. Escalates to validate outputs at agreed checkpoint or potential issues with the methodology or approach being applied.
- Collaborates: Collaborates cross functionally with teams at various levels to shape the solution to each specific business problem. Establishes connections with external stakeholders.
- Ensures Accountability: Follows through on commitments and acts with a clear sense of ownership. Takes personal responsibility for decisions, actions, and failures, establishing clear responsibilities and processes for monitoring work and measuring results. Prioritises work and assigns tasks to other members of the team.
- Technical Leadership: Stays abreast of developments in domain area of expertise, providing thought leadership and insights. Applies specialist knowledge to effectively manage, review and undertake work in specialist domain area.
- Numerical analysis: Applies mathematical principles and concepts to analytical and problem solving challenges. Demonstrates the ability to evaluate, interpret or present numerical information in multiple forms.
- Business Partnership: Establishes working relationships with stakeholders in order to build trust. Evaluates challenges and opportunities from the business' perspective to develop solutions that best meet its needs
