A Finance Team Leader (Payroll and Accounts Payable) typically processing fortnightly payroll and oversees the accounts payable function. Ensuring that all financial transactions are processed accurately and efficiently. Key responsibilities and skills for this role:

- Payroll Processing: Support Financial Controller to process fortnightly payroll, ensuring accuracy and maintain financial controls. Working closely with Payroll Manager to maintain a streamlined payroll process.
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the accounts payable specialist, providing guidance and support.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement process enhancements to improve efficiency and accuracy in invoice processing and payment procedures.
- Invoice Verification: Oversee the review and approval of invoices, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Vendor Relations: Gain understanding of vendor management, including Service Level Agreements etc. Maintain positive relationships with vendors, addressing inquiries and resolving disputes as needed.
- Reporting: Prepare and present reports on accounts payable metrics, such as payment cycles and outstanding invoices.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to financial regulations and internal controls.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other departments (e.g. finance control and procurement) to align on processes and address issues.
- Leadership: Strong ability to lead and motivate a team.
- Attention to Detail: Precision in processing financial transactions and identifying discrepancies.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to analyse financial data and trends.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration and vendor interaction.
- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., ERP systems) and Excel.
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field or part qualified accountant
- Preferred: Previous experience in payroll and accounts payable with at least a two years’ in a supervisory position
