Financial Accountant

The Person
We are looking for a competent, organised and energetic individual to join our growing accounts team with responsibility for a company with multiple divisions. You must be able to demonstrate that you are self-motivated with a drive for continuous improvement. You should be able to work on your own initiative while also having the ability to take direction from senior management.
The Role
The role will report direct to the CFO.
- Ensure timely and accurate invoicing is completed so that customers receive information on time and correct first time.
- Follow up on any overdue invoices in a professional manner and resolve customer issues without need for escalation.
- Deal with operational issues to ensure that business needs are met from 3rd party providers, such as but not limited to van rentals, IT system queries, fuel cards and other service providers.
- Produce monthly management accounts. Information should be accurate, professionally presented and meaningful.
- Ensure all key accountancy functions are completed on a routine basis e.g. bank recs, creditors recs, debtors recs etc.
- Process supplier payments.
- Complete UK VAT and PAYE returns for the business.
- Complete year end accounts and tax returns.
- Prepare the year end file and assist auditors with the audit process.
- When requested, interact and perform other ad-hoc duties in other areas of the business and finance function.
- Minimum five years’ experience in a similar role where you can demonstrate that you were at a high level of responsibility and able to deal with time lines and achieve results.
- Strong Microsoft Excel are essential.
- Experience using an accounts package is a must.
- Professional accountancy qualification is advantageous.
