With depots in Galway, Dublin, Warrington and Glasgow. O’Toole Transport specialises in national and international distribution for the FMCG sector. Working with some of the world’s biggest food companies, our daily scheduled collections from all over Ireland offer our customers a cost-effective, market-focused logistics service.
A dynamic young company, it has grown to a fleet 150 trucks and 250 trailers, with 250 staff.
Job Overview:
Your new role will be based in the finance team on the outskirts of Galway city. You will report to the finance manager while leading the day-to-day operations of the finance team. This is a high-volume environment so managing the team and delegating effectively will be key to success in this role.
You will also play a heavy hand in producing month-end management accounts and providing commentary, producing year end financials and assisting in the year-end audit process. There is also opportunity for project work as the company looks to continue their growth into the future.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with accounting standards.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist with annual budgeting processes, regular forecasts, and financial modelling to support strategic decision-making.
- Cost Analysis and Profitability Reporting: Conduct detailed financial analysis to evaluate cost drivers, profitability, and efficiency within our operations.
- Internal Controls and Processes: Develop and enhance internal financial controls and processes to increase efficiency and reduce risk.
- Team Collaboration: Partner with operations, planning, and other departments to provide financial insights that drive business performance.
- Payroll: Back up to the payroll manager to process Payroll during their leave.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; ACCA, ACA, or CIMA certification preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a financial accountant, ideally within the logistics, transportation, or a related sector.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software and advanced MS Excel; familiarity with ERP systems is a plus.
- Analytical Skills: Strong financial analysis, reporting, and budgeting skills.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional accuracy and a methodical approach to financial data and compliance.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders. Ability to speak French is an advantage.
- Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.
