The Opportunity
Arup’s Ground Engineering team in Ireland includes geotechnical engineers, engineering geologists, hydrogeologists, and GIS specialists, supported by our global expertise across all disciplines. We provide innovative ground engineering solutions for all types of projects and clients, both within Ireland and internationally, adding value through technical excellence, creative thinking, and understanding of our client’s long-term objectives.
We currently have a requirement for a graduate engineering geologist with a passion for geotechnics to join our Ground Engineering Team. We are seeking a candidate that can deliver innovative solutions which provide value to our clients, while meeting the highest technical standards. The candidate should also possess excellent communication skills and the ability to understand client requirements. This is a permanent role and offers the successful candidate long-term opportunities for career development.
As a Graduate Geologist at Arup, you will:
- Contributing to wide variety of projects, both in Ireland and overseas, working in both the field and office-based work under the supervision of senior staff.
- Geo-hazard assessment, desk studies, site walk over including the preparation of conceptual ground models
- Planning, supervising and reporting on ground investigations
- Preparation of specifications and reports.
- Communicating design solutions and advice to a range of technical and non-technical audiences
- Understanding trends and best practices in the ground engineering industry and contributing to geological research.
- Participating in local Professional Associations and to start working towards professional qualifications.
- Communicating effectively in written and verbal presentation formats
- Possible short-term assignments within Ireland and overseas
Does this role inspire you?
We're looking for graduates who are currently pursuing a minimum an honour bachelor’s degree in Geology or equivalent. A post-graduate qualification in Engineering Geology, GIS, Geomatics, or equivalent is an advantage.
We also value:
- Ability to work independently as well as well as a proven team player and have a proactive approach to work
- Ability to meet strict deadlines
- Good communication skills essential for team-based working
- Excellent planning and organisation skills
- Must be highly motivated, proactive and willing to take on new challenges
- Interest and ability in digital space 3D modelling, scripting, or GIS would be an advantage
- Flexibility to travel, and full drivers licence an advantage
