South East Technological University (SETU) is the only provider of higher education in the South East region of Ireland. SETU provides a broad range and scope of academic offerings, which reflect the evolving needs of the south east as well as the country as a whole. The School of Science and Computing at SETU is composed of three Departments, one of which is the Department of Science. The Department has significant undergraduate, taught postgraduate and Ph D activities in pharmaceutical science, molecular biology with biopharmaceutical science and physics along with laboratory apprenticeship programmes. The Department is connected to industry through the Pharmaceutical and Molecular Biotechnology Research Centre (PMBRC) and its industry board.

The Head of Department will have the relevant skills and experience to manage a very dynamic department while supporting the broader activities of the School and the university.
