The Opportunity
We are now seeking a Head of IT Operations to join the Chief Transformation & Technology Office.

The successful candidate will report directly to the Chief Transformation & Technology Officer and be a member of Eir Grid’s extended leadership team.

As Head of IT Operations, you will be responsible for the operations, monitoring and maintenance of business-critical applications and tools. We will look to you to lead the capability to effectively and efficiently operate, monitor and maintain the applications and tools that support daily business operations and ensure high available of core applications and tools and effectively manage and evaluate the performance of business systems and tools.

You will Lead and motivate a high performing team to deliver the strategic objectives of the company and create an engaged and motivated workforce. You will exemplify and role model the values and leadership behaviours expected of a senior leader in the organisation and lead the process of cultural transformation.

We will look to you to collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to identify strategic opportunities for collaboration and improved services. You will manage the day-to-day operation of the CTTO vendor relationships to ensure appropriate maintenance of business systems and tools and alignment with business objectives.

As part of your role, you will lead the development, implementation, maintenance and testing of Eir Grid’s crisis management, business continuity and disaster recovery plans ensure all relevant stake holders are aware and trained.

About you
Successful candidates will have:

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field in Information Technology or a related field (MBA preferred).
• Seasoned IT Leader with deep expertise in the operations and maintenance of 24/7 mission critical applications and tools in the utility industry and Familiar with power system operations, and energy market dynamics.
• Experience of leading professional working relationships and managing maintenance contract delivery and SLAs and managing organizational change and transformation.
• Deep expertise in business continuity the crisis management processes for mission critical business systems and tools
• Deep expertise in IT Development and Delivery methodologies and standards e.g. Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL), ITSM
• Strong strategic thinking and vision, with the ability to understand translate business objectives into actionable outcomes.
• Excellent communication and engagement skills. Ability to translate complex issues for executive leadership and influence stakeholders at all levels. Ability to build effective internal and external partnerships and ability to collaborate across functions
• Ability to lead, inspire and motivate cross-functional teams to achieve common goals through organizational change and transformation.
• Ability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances, demonstrate resilience and be comfortable with uncertainty and ambiguity
• Strong leader in managing budgeting, funding requirements, financial management and identifying and mitigating risks
• Experience working in government, public sector, or regulated industries is advantageous.
• Strong analytical skills to align programs with organizational goals and government priorities.
