Housekeeping Supervisor

The Housekeeping Supervisor will execute housekeeping duties & lead the team for the Nursing Home including preparing rooms for Residents and ensuring public areas are maintained to the highest standard. Working as part of the housekeeping function the Domestic/Housekeeping Assistant will provide the highest level of service in a friendly positive environment.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Prioritise workload on a daily basis.
2. Complete and sign off on the cleaning rota (as per daily, weekly, periodical tasks) as advised by the Nurse Manager in line with the Company’s exceptional standards in hygiene and cleanliness
3. Ensure that the following are carried out at appropriate intervals in all areas of the
Nursing Home and in line with the rota:-Thorough cleaning of all areas.
- Dusting, vacuuming and washing down of all areas.
- Cleaning of all safely accessible windows.
- Polishing of mirrors, brass plates on doors and furniture (as applicable).
- Dusting of all ledges, pictures, high areas and skirting boards.
- Shampooing of carpets.
- Cleaning of curtains, chairs and all furniture.
- Emptying / cleaning of waste bins
- Cleaning bathroom areas including moping shower and tiled areas
- Restocking of toiletries, soaps, towels etc.
- Sort washing into relevant groups, where applicable, and process it through the washer drier, clean and dirty linen separate within the laundry area.
- The following priorities apply: Bedding, Towels, Clients’ personal laundry, Serviettes, Tea Towels.
- Return the Care Centre’s washing to the linen cupboard and the kitchen.
- Perform minor repairs to Residents clothing.
- Any clothes that are not marked should be named and placed in the appropriate boxes after being laundered.
5. Liaise with the Nurse Manager regarding the effectiveness of cleaning products, and ensure their safe storage.
6. To liaise with new and existing residents to ensure that the resident’s expectations are being met by the F.M. team.
7. To achieve and maintain a score of between 85% - 99% on all audits carried out by the Quality Assurance Manager or his/her agent.
Communication:
8. Participate in Staff meetings as required.
9. To attend all meetings with Management, as and when requested to do so.
Budgetary / Financial Control:
10. Liaise with the Nurse Manager when ordering cleaning products. Undertake monthly stock checks.
11. Ensure that all commodities used in the maintenance of hygiene in the Nursing Home are used in an efficient and effective manner and that usage is monitored and recorded in accordance with the budgets agreed with the Home Manager.
Training & Development:
12. Supervise and instruct junior and new Staff Members in all aspects of their work in the Nursing Home, giving help and guidance where appropriate.
13. Attend mandatory training days/courses, on or off site, as and when required.
14. Maintain professional knowledge and competence.
Health & Safety
15. Adhere to the Nursing Homes disposal of waste policy.
16. Report immediately to the Home Manager, or Person in Charge, any illness of an infectious nature or accident incurred by a Client, colleague, self or another.
17. Understand and ensure the implementation of the Nursing Home’s Health and
Safety policy, and Emergency and Fire procedures.
18. Report to the Home Manager, or the Maintenance Operator, any faulty appliances, damaged furniture, equipment or any potential hazard.
19. Promote safe working practice in the Nursing Home.
20. Take all safety precautions when working with cleaning agents including the use of rubber gloves.
21. Ensure that cleaning materials are at all times locked away in your absence or when not in use.
22. Ensure all equipment is returned to proper storage area when not in use. Never leave cleaning products or equipment unattended.
General:
23. Promote and ensure the good reputation of the Nursing Home.
24. Ensure that all information of confidential nature gained in the course of duty is not divulged to third parties.
25. Notify the Home Manager, or the Person in Charge, as soon as possible of your inability to report for duty, and also on your return to work from all periods of absence.
26. Ensure the security of the Nursing Home is maintained at all times.
27. Adhere to all Company policies and procedures within the defined timescales.
28. Ensure all equipment is clean and well maintained.
29. Carry out any other tasks that may be reasonably assigned to you.
All employees must adhere to the dress code as described at induction. Personal
Protective Equipment must also be worn as directed and in full compliance with Health and Safety Legislation where applicable .
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Previous experience in a similar role.
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels. English language ability must be such that the staff member is competent to communicate effectively with residents and colleagues in relation to speaking, listening, reading and writing.

- Must provide Garda Vetting clearance in line with H.I.Q.A. requirements
