We are recruiting for a Laboratory Cleaning Operative for our client based in Limerick City. This is a permanent part-time role, 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8pm to midnight.
Purpose of the Role:
To undertake duties as directed by the deputy soft services supervisor in support of the laboratory operations. Primary responsibilities include:

• Laboratory cleaning – Undertake daily cleaning requirements to the laboratory complex (clean lab areas requiring a high level attention to detail)
• General cleaning – cleaning to non-laboratory areas (administration, welfare, toilets blocks, locker rooms.
• Waste management – collection and transfer of waste materials to appropriate recycling points, ensuring accurate and appropriate segregation of waste streams.
• Laboratory glassware – collection, cleaning, storage, stock management, inspection and return of laboratory glassware for laboratory operations
• Any other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Soft Services Manager or Deputy.

Ensuring customer satisfaction through provision of a quality service as laid down in the contract specifications and guided by the soft services supervisor.
Main Duties & Responsibilities of the Role:
Cleaning Services

• Daily cleaning routines for Lab areas (excluding laboratory equipment.
• Daily cleaning routines for Non-Lab areas i.e. Canteen, Toilets blocks, locker rooms and associated reactive service support.
• Keep live, accurate and compliant records of all cleaning activities, to support site quality management system requirements (via electronic handheld system- ecat).

Waste Management Services

• Waste collection and transfer to appropriate recycling and storage points, ensuring accurate and appropriate segregation of waste streams as detailed within Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Maintain a clean, safe and tidy Waste Management areas.
• Daily documentation support for all waste streams for accurate waste KPIs and reporting

Equipment Maintenance

• Report any malfunctioning equipment and undertake pre-use checks to ensure safety.

Inventory Management

• Monitor and maintain stock levels of consumable storage and stocking requirements

Safety and Compliance

• Follow laboratory safety protocols and guidelines.
• Follow all method statements and risk assessments for all routine and non-routine tasks. Complete dynamic risk assessments where appropriate.
• Dispose of hazardous and non-hazardous waste according to safety standards.
• Keep work areas clean and organized to prevent accidents, incidents or near misses.
• Ensure the Lab Support Services are “Audit Ready” at all times.

Documentation, Training and Record Keeping

• Maintain accurate records of cleaning tasks, waste management tasks and inventory.
• Update logs and databases as required.
• Complete all SOP training requirements as per the Laboratory Cleaning Operative Training Matrix and ensure accurate and up-to-date training records

General Laboratory Support

• Assist with additional laboratory support cleaning tasks as directed.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Skills & Experience Required:

• Previous cleaning experience required, in a laboratory environment is desirable.
• Fluent English and good communications skills
• Undertake technical training when required e.g., emptying of bailer
• Ability to work well in a team and on own initiative
• Legal to work in Ireland
