Performance Analyst (Women's Pathway)

The IRFU are inviting applications for Performance Analyst (Women's Pathway).
This newly created role will play an important part in supporting the development and progression of players within the IRFU Women’s Rugby Pathway. This role will involve the collection, analysis, and interpretation of data to help shape individual development, inform coaching and ensure the effective monitoring of player progress through the pathway. The successful candidate will work closely with coaches, players and representative teams, along with the wider IRFU performance teams, to deliver actionable insights that contribute to the success of emerging talent in Women’s and Girls Rugby in Ireland.
The position is being offered on a full-time, 2 year fixed-term contract basis. The role will be based at our High Performance Centre, Sport Ireland Campus, Snugborough Road, Blanchardstown, Dublin 15.
The closing date for applications is strictly 4pm 5th October 2024.
Interviews are expected to take place on 17th October 2024.
The salary for this role is up to €35,000, depending on experience.

POST TITLE: Performance Analyst (Women's Pathway)
ROLE AND PURPOSE OF POSITION

Operational and functional: Head of Women’s Pathways & Performance, Head of Analytics and Innovation
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
Women’s Rugby National Team Analyst, Coaching Teams
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Data / Video Collection and Analysis:
Collect, manage, and analyse performance data and video from training sessions and matches
Develop and maintain a comprehensive database of player performance metrics across the women’s rugby pathway
Provide statistical and video analysis of individual and team performances

Reporting and Insights:
Produce regular performance reports for coaches, highlighting key metrics, trends, and areas for improvement.
Deliver clear and concise presentations of data insights to coaching staff and other stakeholders.
Contribute to the development of player profiles (IPPs)
Assist in the identification of high-potential players and support their transition through the pathway.

Support for Coaches and Teams

Work with various coaching teams to prepare pre- and post-match analysis, including opposition analysis and performance reviews.
Provide live data analysis and insights during training sessions and matches where possible to inform coaching decisions.
Contribute to the development of educational resources for players and coaches, focused on understanding and utilising performance data.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

A degree in Sports Science, Data Analytics, Performance Analysis, or a related field.
Experience in performance analysis within a rugby or team sport environment.
Experience working within a player development pathway or talent identification environment.
Proficiency in Hudl Sportscode and data analysis tools (e.g., one of Excel, R, Python).
Strong understanding of rugby union, particularly the women’s game, inboththe tactical and technical demands of the game
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

Annual KPIs will be agreed with the Head of Women’s Pathways & Performance and Head of Analytics and Innovation in specific areas of work outlined in roles and responsibilities.
Participate in Performance Development Review on an annual basis with operational and functional line managers
