Personal Care Assistant (Adult Respite)

We are currently seeking highly-motivated Personal Care Assistants to join our Rathmore House Adult Respite team in Arklow, Co. Wicklow.

Contract Type: Relief post.

Salary Scale: €32,639 – €39,499 pro rata per annum. Salary scales are subject to LSI’s (Long Service Increments).

Annual Leave Entitlement: 10.7% of total hours worked.

Overview of the Post:
Rathmore House is situated in the beautiful and idyllic countryside of Coolroe Great, County Wicklow, providing holidays (respite) for adult service users. It has been specifically designed to cater for people with physical disabilities, and it provides Service Owners with the opportunity to avail of short holiday breaks.
When staying at Rathmore House, Service Owners choose how they would like to spend their time. There are a range of in-house activities on offer, including beauty treatments, yoga, aromatherapy, reflexology and cookery lessons. Transport is available at all times, so there are regular trips to the local cinema, shopping centre, bowling centre, restaurants and pubs.
The role of the Personal Care Assistant is to support in the delivery of high quality respite service, including assisting Service Owners in their personal needs whilst attending their respite break, and to access all centre activities.

The successful candidate will have
Essential Criteria:
  • FETAC Level 5 Certificate in Social Care or relevant health related area
  • 1 years’ experience in providing personal care to adults.
  • Full clean driving license.
  • Eligible to work in the State.

Desirable Criteria:
  • Experience working with adults and families with physical/sensory/intellectual disabilities.
  • Experience in driving people with disabilities on public roads.
  • Experience working with adults within the community.
Experience with PEG feeding and catheterisation.
