Building upon the continued success of infrastructure projects being delivered across Ireland, the team are now looking for someone at either a Principal or Associate level to help advance the engineering design capability, develop strong client relationships in the public and private sector as well as provide managerial and technical guidance to the existing infrastructure team.
The role is based in Dublin with extensive opportunity to balance office based, collaborative working with the flexibility to work from home.
This position will involve supporting the Engineering Lead in managing active travel/urban realm and street enhancement schemes, developing face to face client relationships and providing construction support services for projects situated across the country.

Context:
Building upon the continued success of infrastructure projects being delivered across Ireland, the team are now looking for someone at either a Principal or Associate level to help advance the engineering design capability, develop strong client relationships in the public and private sector as well as provide managerial and technical guidance to the existing infrastructure team.

This position will involve supporting the Engineering Lead in managing active travel/urban realm and street enhancement schemes, developing face to face client relationships and providing construction support services for projects situated across the country.
The successful candidate will support the delivery of a wide range of multi-disciplinary traffic, highways and infrastructure projects for public and private sector clients across Ireland and the UK. The candidate will be required to:
- Act as Project Manager for transport infrastructure design projects across the business, with control over project budgets.
- Manage staff in the preparation of outline, preliminary and detailed design projects.
- Support the team in the preparation of contract documents, the tendering process and the construction phase of projects.
- Ensure work produced is technically accurate and delivered in accordance with the appropriate standards.
- Manage the production of scheme deliverables.
- Review technical documents and reports and assist in the preparation of expressions of interest and tenders.
- Ensure compliance with relevant health, safety and environmental legislation
- Liaise with the Engineering Lead and other Sector Directors to identify and secure opportunities.
- Liaise with the resource manager to plan and manage your work and the work of staff to meet project needs
- Prepare fee proposals for agreement with clients.
- Provide guidance and review the preparation of cost estimates and project budgets for infrastructure schemes
- Provide on-site client support during the construction phase
- Participate in meetings with clients, contractors and regulatory agencies, as necessary
- Collaborate with other engineers, architects and project managers to ensure design objectives are met and projects are delivered on time and within budget
- Keep up to date with advances in infrastructure design and implement new technologies and design practices as appropriate
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- A relevant degree qualification with substantial experience working for a design consultancy.
- Chartered Engineer status, or actively working towards Chartered Engineer status
- The ability to form constructive, lasting relationships with clients and professional partners
- A successful track record in project management
- Experience in the preparation of preliminary and detailed design for active travel schemes, bus priority schemes, urban traffic management schemes and urban realm enhancement projects.
- A background of detailed highway design using industry leading design software.
- Experience in the preparation of preliminary and detailed design for highways, drainage and infrastructure projects.
- Experience in the preparation of construction contract documents, including tender specifications
- Knowledge of TII’s Requirements for Measuring and Pricing and measuring inputs for the Bill of Quantities
- Experience supporting clients through the tendering and award process
- Experience providing client support during the construction phase.
- Experience of site attendance during construction is desirable.
- Knowledge of the National Transport Authority’s Project Approval Guidelines
- Demonstrable knowledge/usage of highway design standards and best practice (e.g. Cycle Design Manual, Design Manual for Urban Roads and Streets, etc) in relation to designing streets, public transport and active travel schemes.
- Demonstratable experience of adhering to the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013
