Job Description

Within our Surface Transportation, Aviation & Ports Team in Ireland we currently have over 150 multi-disciplinary professionals working across a diverse range of clients and infrastructure projects.

Due to the recent growth and pipeline of major active travel and public transport programmes with our key clients we are seeking expressions of interest for an enthusiastic and determined Civil or Infrastructure Engineer with industry experience to join our growing team. The role will be based in our brand-new offices in Dublin City Centre. We are passionate about your career path, as such the successful candidate will be a Chartered Engineer, or close to achieving Chartered status, with demonstrated experience in engineering design and project management. They will be ready to take the next step in their career taking a leadership role in the delivery and co-ordination of design packages on complex infrastructure programmes ensuring these are delivered to the AECOM quality standards, on time and budget.
Projects
Our current portfolio of transportation infrastructure works comprises a diverse mix of local and national Active Travel projects for major Clients including Bus Connects in Dublin and Cork, major Greenway projects (in Cork, Waterford, Galway and Donegal), multiple active travel and bus priority schemes in Dun Laoghaire, Dublin City, Cork and Galway amongst other local authorities. We also work alongside our rail, aviation and power teams as part of our agile delivery approach to developing well rounded staff. Our portfolio ranges from early planning phases to construction delivery including design and build and employer design contracts.

Job responsibilities include:
  • Develop design management strategies which will include the design review and progressive design assurance processes including designer’s risk assessment process, the engineering design assurance gates, certification processes and procedures;
  • Develop technical drawings and specifications for inclusion in contract documents;
  • Ensure designs and contract documents are in accordance with programmes, safety, quality, and cost objectives and that they comply with best-in-class governance and controls procedures, including the implementation and oversight of a robust quality management system throughout the design development process; and
  • Ensure the works elements of designs are designed and phased in a manner which minimises operational disruption and that they are constructable and cost efficient and consider the interfaces with relevant third parties.

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or similar (BSc, BEng, MEng, MSc)
  • Chartered Engineer & Member of relevant professional engineering institution (e.g. IEI, ICE or equivalent)


Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Required to have civil engineering experience, ideally working in a multi-disciplinary design team, and have excellent communication skills with all disciplines, partners, 3rd Parties, and clients;
  • Design experience in public transport, urban active travel or other urban infrastructure, such as rail / light rail and utility diversions.
  • Oversee the development and delivery of detail designs including design drawings and industry standard software models such as Microdrainage, Infodrainage, Auto CAD, Civil 3D and quality management and process improvement practices and systems.
