The Role
Newstalk is recruiting for a researcher to join our flagship mid morning programme, The Pat Kenny Show. We're looking for a creative and ambitious candidate who can help set the editorial agenda and get the nation talking on Ireland’s Number 1 commercial radio show.

The Role
Newstalk is recruiting for a researcher to join our flagship mid morning programme, The Pat Kenny Show. We're looking for a creative and ambitious candidate who can help set the editorial agenda and get the nation talking on Ireland’s Number 1 commercial radio show.
What you’ll do:
- Generate and develop creative, original and new ideas for the programme
- React to breaking news quickly so that it gets to air accurately and first
- Break news stories and develop new angles and contributors on existing stories
- Assist the Producer in all activities pertaining to the programme while it is on-air including editing and researching of items
- Carry out vox pops and report into the programme
- Edit and create imaginative audio pieces for the programme
- Secure the best guests and on-air exclusives for the programme
- Book guests and collate briefing material for the presenter
- Drive the programme’s presence on digital platforms
- Co-ordinate and develop podcasts
- Record and edit the Best of
- Other duties as required
- You have a strong interest in news and current affairs, particularly on radio
- You are curious and like to ask questions
- You are ambitious and creative
- You are a team player and have an ability to multi-task and work well under pressure and to deadlines
- You can spot and develop stories that get people talking
- You have a broad range of interests and follow everything from news, politics, sport, business, celebrity news, social issues and everything in between
- You are proficient in recording and editing and the workings of digital and social media
- You have strong writing skills
