Auto Conversions Limited Trading as Wilker Auto Conversions (Wilker) is one of the leading vehicle converters in Ireland and the UK and is now growing to become an internationally recognised vehicle conversion specialist. It is headquartered in Clara Co. Offaly and also has a production facility in Sandbach, Cheshire UK. Wilker provides vehicle conversions for the ambulance services, fire services, GARDA and military as well as customised vehicles for the commercial & industrial sectors. Our extensive customer base extends throughout Ireland, England, Scotland & Wales, The Isle of Wight and Jersey, with Exports to Cyprus, Trinidad & Tobago and Abu Dhabi.
Due to our continuous growth we are currently recruiting for the role ofa Senior Electrical Engineer. The role is full time employment with a standard six month probationary period. The successful applicant must be capable of taking a leadership role in our manufacturing facility on the design and installation and testing of electronic and electrical systems (12v and 110V / 240v) on a wide variety of specialist vehicles and A&E Ambulances conversions. The successful candidate will be required to ensure electrical control systems and components within the vehicle conversion process are designed, developed and maintained to the necessary specifications with an emphasis on safety, quality, reliability, sustainability and economy
The primary aspects of the position and Experience required for the role:
· This role of the Senior Electrical Engineer person is to be the foremost specialist in vehicle conversion electrical design for our company
· As a minimum Candidates must have at least 4 years’ experience in an Electrical Engineer role, but must also have a desire to learn and become proficient in all electrical aspects of vehicle conversions.
· The Role involves leadership of a design and Manufacturing team consisting of electrical technicians, Lead Electrical personnel and Electrical operators. Candidates must be able to demonstrate strong leadership capability.
· While Electrical Engineering experience in vehicle conversions is an advantage, it is not a prerequisite for applicants. Initially, full on - the- job training in our electrical conversion processes will be provided by the company for the successful candidate as an introduction to our manufacturing processes.
· It is important for candidates to demonstrate their capability to fulfil this role through their personal drive and ambition for the job and their approach to innovation in the Vehicle conversion arena.
Responsibilities in detail:
1. Pre-Production design for the Electrical aspect of all vehicle conversions:
a. Reviewing the initial Tender Specification to formulate the Electrical Build specification for a project.
b. Carry out the wiring loom design be it outsourced or built in house
c. Sourcing electrical parts to act as solutions for a particular problem or need that the Customer might have.
d. Create the installation processes for Battery Management, for Camera systems, for Internal and external lighting, for siren systems and for any other electrical system on the Conversion.
2. Responsible for the planning, implementation and upkeep of the for our vehicle conversion production lines in conjunction with the Operations Manager.
3. Assign and Train the Electrical leads and electrical operators to each task on their process sheet
4. Refine the process times allotted to each task.
5. The role can sometimes be hands-on, where you are required to get involved in the installations on the build as needed.
6. Develop electrical for the vehicles in build in conjunction with Lead Electrical Engineer
7. Carry out Programming of OEM vehicle interactive systems such as the Mercedes PSM
8. : Liaise with ECU suppliers (Carnation, ATSR, etc.) to obtain a robust Electrical Control System to enable that system to achieve the electrical functionality as agreed with the Customer. Carry out Control System in conjunction with system suppliers (ATSR, Carnation etc.)
9. involving problem solving and electrical trouble shooting.
10. From time to time travel on-site to a customer to investigate/ fix a reported fault on a vehicle or group of vehicles.
11. Design / implement training programs internally with Employees and externally with Customers/ sub-contractors
12. Responsibility for generation of complete electrical drawings for conversions and also from time to time for tender submissions.
13. Any other project work as assigned.

Pay: €55,000.00-€65,000.00 per year
