Senior Manager & Deputy Data Protection Officer (DPO)

This is an exciting new role that is being created to support the Bank as we increase our use of data to deliver our strategic priorities. As Senior Manager & Deputy DPO you will be required to manage both the Data Protection (DP) Advisory and Operations teams within the Data Protection team which sits in Regulatory Compliance Function. You will advise on all Data Protection Regulations impacting the Bank, including oversight of data breaches and business proposals. You will also engage with the Data Protection Commission on behalf of the Bank as required.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the strategic direction of Data Protection and work closely with the Head of Regulatory Compliance and Senior Management to maximise the effectiveness of the Function.
- Lead the provision of advice and guidance to Senior Leaders within the business and their direct reports on the management of data protection.
- Lead the development and ongoing Maintenance of the Data Protection Policy for the Bank.
- Oversee the implementation and ongoing maintenance of Data Protection policies, controls and procedures across business units and support functions.
- Champion and embed our values based culture by living our PTSB values and behaviours every day in your interactions with team members, colleagues across the Bank and external partners.
- As a Senior Leader, embody and role model the Bank¿ purpose and ambition.
- Manage and continuously strengthen and enhance the relationships with the DPC.
- Advise and support Ex Co and senior management in their engagements with the DPC.
Requirements:
- A relevant professional data protection qualification.
- At least 5 year¿s experience in a data protection management role.
- A detailed understanding of data protection law and regulation and how to apply it in a business environment, readily commanding confidence as an expert in your professional field. ¿ Good understanding of data protection & compliance risks across the banking industry
- Strong influencing & communications skills and has the confidence to deal with management at all levels.
- Self-motivated, able to correctly set their own priorities and meet project deadlines.
- Proven track record of managing a high-performance team and demonstrated an ability to lead in an environment with changing priorities and time pressures.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively across a variety of internal and external stakeholders, including Senior Executives and the Regulator.
This is a Permanent role based in Permanent TSB's Head Office in Dublin 2, with Hybrid Working option available.
